Hello, new sub here. I've been reading a lot on fish eye sight and UV. From what I've read (a couple sites, but they seem to cite the same research) only the baby trout see UV, and as the trout ages the cones, or rods in their eyes that are responsible for giving them UV vision so to speak, deteriorate to the point that that particular researcher seemed to think meant that they no longer could see UV. I've only been fly fishing since June, and only been tying flies for about a week now so i havent done any testing to see if the same pattern tied with and without UV has any change in how it fishes or how many fish i catch, to be honest I'm JUST getting tot he point where I can catch fish every time i go out (I mostly fish the provo river in utah (canyon section)) So I guess I'll have to tie up a bunch of flies that overall catch me thte most fish with and without UV and see if it has any effect on how many fish I catch. Issue is that the browns in the provo will just completely stop biting one hour to the next. a red worm might be killing it for 2 hours then I'll go 3 without a bite.

you're tying on larger hooks. everyone around here reccomends 16 to 20. I didn't think they'd be so small.
@TroutZoneAnglers2 жыл бұрын
We use other patterns in those smaller sizes. This fly fishes best in the range recommended. The little yellow stoneflies here in the Smokies range seasonally from a larger #10 or #12 all the way down to #20 or smaller, so be sure and carry a variety of flies to meet the situation for the time of year you are fishing. Thanks for stopping by!

You spent 1/4 of this video launching a boat. The Caney is WAY easier than this! I mean you can wade out to the middle.
@TroutZoneAnglers2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, not sure where you are fishing but anytime you want to try wading to the middle on the Caney, let me know, and I'll show you a spot or two to try. Also not sure what you are calling "launching" the boat, but approximately 1.48% of the video is dedicated to launching, about the same percentage that you would dedicate over the course of a whole day of fishing. Or perhaps you are referencing preparing the boat for launch, driving to the launch, driving away from the launch and all the other things that happen around actual launching?
