How is DH included in total miles, when you need to be running $x.xx per mile? Seems like DH should be its own expense? Just trying to figure my numbers out and just thought of this. Thank for the calculator!

Just make it a percentage of the expected revenue

Hi. I have a question maybe you can help me. I'm doing my research to become a freight dispatcher. I don't own a truck or have an authority . Am i supposed to provide the interchange insurance or do all owners operates have that already?

As an independent dispatcher, you would not need to have the insurance yourself since you are not booking the load for your company. The carrier you are booking for would be required to have the trailer interchange.

This is for enclosed box trucks. for a 26 ft flat bed you would do similar searches. for equipment put "D,F,K" deck, flatbed, and specialized.

Are you a dispatcher or something? We are paying 5% right for our dispatch. But they don’t specialize in power only but they are ok I guess. We have 3 trucks running power only. If you are a dispatcher let me know if you need 3 more trucks. I’d rather have someone that knows the power only loads. I can do it for myself but if I can just pay someone $400+ per truck per week I’d rather just do that. I’m already busy enough trying to operate this business.

A dispatcher does NOT have the legal authority to move freight. A Freight Broker does and a Carrier does. A dispatch has to be employed by a Carrier or a Freight Broker to legally move freight! Your opinion has no bearing on whether dispatching is legal or illegal. Just like a real estate agent can not act as an intermediary to sale property but MUST be under the legal authority of a real estate broker! So it is with a dispatcher or a freight agent! They must bring operating UNDER THE AUTHORITY of a legally authorized entity… a Freight Broker or a Carrier. THAT’S THE LAW!!

Cause some of these dispatchers are out of the country have never lived here and they don’t know the roads or understand our logistics and they don’t understand they work for the carrier. I legit called the fmcsa about it this morning cause I didn’t want to get my mc and start hiring owner operators without understanding the business first . It blows me how me o/o’s don’t know anything about business really. So hopefully I can help some guys I know make a lot money

Yeah unfortunately, with such a low barrier of entry to be a dispatcher and no way to really check credibility, there is a lot of that out there. Good for you for doing your homework.

Try downloading it and uploading it into google sheets if you do not have excel

One solution (if you have a Gmail/Google account, available for free) is to upload the file to Google Drive, and then you can access it and change numbers with your browser.

@@rockyonfire1I work 😂tech sales and I’m going to bootcamp for QA tester this summer. Once you pay for gas, insurance and van payments it just wasn’t worth it for me to be out on the road for a month or two . I do want to buy a van again and just travel and continue to work remotely.

one thing that may be missing may be depreciation

Depreciation is not considered a daily operating cost. This calculator is designed to help you figure out what you need to move a load essentially.
