The first writing was about money? Apparently not…. It was more likely about how human beings came to be. If he got that wrong what else? China is all fake frontages. It’s not doing well at all. It’s a disaster.

Tally sticks have been known about in the history of money for a very long time. How is this an alternative? No barter systems? Go to a rural valley. Locals barter goods. Naturally. He just said where money came from , as an example , was when a crime was committed, cattle etc. was used to barter for forgiveness. There you go you just said that the origin of money wasn’t battering and then you proved that it was.. This is exactly what happens in Papua New Guinea. If a person is killed, a certain amount of pigs must be paid to honor the debt of transgressing Cultural law. bartering is used to pay for cultural debt. Authority is obviously always involved with things like cultural debt because you were dealing with tribal groups. Tribal groups like horses and other pack animals have leaders that’s the authority so of course, someone’s gotta be held accountable to repay the debt or crime. But that’s bartering.

1:32:00 “In the innermost hearts of a lot of people, particularly working class people who have seen their prospects decline, there is a sense that they are stealing their country away from me and that kind of thing, but that is not the official policy. And the only thing that would change the official policy would be if these disgruntled people somehow took power and I don’t see signs of it in the near future” Fast forward to the 2024 European elections and maybe those 'disgruntled people' are starting to become a political force

DEnial the competator to intuition. I lent my criminal brother $ 7,000.00 for 30 days in 2017 as he went through his divorce and would cash his $ 25,000.00 investment to pay me back. Denial kicked in because he had alreaddy stole $ 200,00. from our dying parents and lied all the time. But, my new saying is that when our need is greater than our need for the truth then reality will soon appear. My need in my old age to have a relationship with my brorther motivated me to over ride reality and my screaming intuition as he flailed his arms to my doubt. CAUTION : When woman have a NEED to " BE NICE " then criminals can push them into denial and rape or murder.

I am surprised to hear the lecturer's conclusion that the euro has been a disaster. In terms of increasing trade across the European Union, it is measurably a success. In terms of restricting the "spendy" countries' ability to just spend, it's been successful. In terms of allowing the European Union to adopt common debt and work together to resolve crisis like COVID, it's been a success. I would be curious to hear the lecturer's refreshed opinion on this today.

MMT and fractional/no reserve banking is a scam.

At 50.33 he says money is debt and bitcoin can't be money. He should explain why when making this statement. Money doesn't have to be debt. MMTers want ultimate power to be within government....Hard money proponents want individuals empowered.....and both systems are based on a monetary system which is used as a system of value exchange. So you just ask yourself if you want top down control or bottom up control. There are pros and cons of each, but it seems top down authoritative control is most dangerous...as it attracts power hungry narcissists that wield this power for personal benefit (more large scale wars but less small skirmishes) The force to help prevent this is power to individuals (less world war...but maybe more small wars). Not an easy clearcut solution either way.

"age and race don't matter, anything someone can't help doesn't matter" Um, yes it does. And being male clearly is a factor as well. Statistically black men are more likely to rob you than Asian men. We need to start having discussions about uncomfortable topics.

Only crackpots in Europe think that the Euro was a disaster. The loss of sovereignty inherent in a common currency is not the deal breaker that it is often presented as. All countries are interdependent, but particularly those in the European family of nations. The Euro enjoys enormous support amongst European citizens that use it and the ECB are as competent as any other central bank in its impact on the economy.

Bank of England was created in 1695 under William III to raise funds for his wars, not “some George”. I am skeptical of the default story. Wray says that tally sticks were used until 1919? And later says they were all burned in 184? If money is government debt, why were coins usually issued with intrinsic value (slightly) below their nominal value? In what sense are these coins debt? My understanding is that Yap islander’s stone wheels were stores of value not mediums of exchange. His tale about travelling to another island to create the wheels and losing some when canoes tipped over and the sunken stones retaining their value seems far fetched. Some extant stone wheels are far too big to transport 200 miles on canoes. It would be interesting to see a convincing source for the story. Cigarettes were famously used as money in WW2 POW campus in Germany. There was no sovereign to create or regulate it. It arose spontaneously and by common agreement. Script (locally agreed mediums of exchange, I.e. just printed pieces of paper) have been used when currency was scarce. Again spontaneous and not imposed by a sovereign. My impression is that Prof Wray is distorting history, cherry picking parts of it or just making things up to support his thesis.

Alright then if what makes a currency have value is the taxes the government issuer makes then why does bitcoin have value? There was no government that required to pay taxes in bitcoin. Right now El Salvador has bitcoin as legal tender so you can use it to pay taxes in there but that was not true just few years ago.

It’s also unconstitutional for a state to punish someone for a case that was completed in another state . Florida places people on the registry even if they have completed the requirements in the state in which their case was completed . How can additional punishment be added to someone who has completed their punishment in the state in which the judge had already ordered their punishment ? How can any state punish anyone for a case that wasn’t decided in their state or presided over by a court/ judge in that state ? This needs to end !

Banks create the money through "productive loans." Goods and Services are created with that money. It keeps inflation in check because that money is created with value created and destroyed as it is payed back. The government creates money by printing it. No value added...they get to control the money not us citizens. It's a usurpation of power that belongs to us!!! WAKE UP!!!! THEY ALWAYS WANT MORE POWER AND NOTHING IS MORE POWERFUL AND OPIATE-LIKE THAN A MONEY PRINTING PRESS!!! THEY COUNTERFEIT OUR COLLECTIVE MONEY FOR THEIR OWN PURPOSES.
