Love this! I have a show to do and I'm a singer (yeah, I can move, but I'm not a dancer) and the directors are both dance instructors, so this is exactly the makeup they want. What about color? My gown is hot pink, fully sequined... Blue where you've got the brown?

Hi Hannah, I’m in the Bay Area and don’t necessarily recommend going to school for makeup. I feel that lots of makeup schools take advantage of the fact that people feel like they have to go to school to be good at something or become a professional. Often there isn’t much practical experience and many of the artists I’ve worked with who graduated from makeup schools were heavily in debt and had less experience doing makeup than someone working at a makeup counter would. That being said, if you are independently wealthy, cinema makeup school is actually a solid education and just about the only makeup school I’d recommend. I didn’t go to school for makeup. I worked for MAC in the early 2000s. Lots of brands are really good about education and training now. Even Sephora has really stepped up their game artistry wise. The reason I’m so passionate about not going into debt to start a career in the arts is because I went to music school at a state school and managed to put myself through college without debt. This was huge because as a makeup artist the first couple years I definitely made under $40k a year. Some of the makeup schools charge that much knowing their graduates won’t make much money for the first decade of their career. There’s no reason to pay a ton of money to get limited experience working on different faces that you could get working at a counter and by watching videos online. I hope that helps! Sorry for the kind of rant, it’s a thing I’m passionate about and want to save people from ❤️

Hi, I realize that I'm a bit behind times at this point. I just want to thank you for this look. I train and compete in something called Pro/am Ballroom. I'm not as young as I used to be, and never really learned how to do makeup when I was a kid. It wasn't something you did back then. Maybe I should mention that I'm not American btw. Now to why I'm writing this. Thank you for this look. I have been trying to figure out what to do for my competition looks and now I have the best ideas ever. I'm so grateful. I will root around my makeup storage and see what I can find and then start practicing. Again, Thank You. Yours, Ann

Amazing... but my ignorance @ the price of quality makeup was just remedied - about $300+ to buy the supplies from MAC, etc. that you list sound right? anyone here have a discount site or less costly alternatives without sacrificing too much of the quality? I know nothing @ makeup

Looks beautiful <3 Its great she can get to watch this video when shes doing the makeup on her own. I thought it was interesting that when you added the contour it instantly aged her a little, though it still looks gorgeous, maybe its because when we are younger the face is plumper and the bones are less defined. I looked up some mature lady pictures, but most didnt have defined cheekbones, some did. Hum..

I'm a huge Maleficent fan and dress as her every few years for Halloween but haven't ever been totally satisfied with my makeup. This is fabulous! Love your skills! I was going to try this look and priced the chrome yellow and um, Mac is expensive makeup! lol I'll try to incorporate some of your ideas this year with my own rendition, which will be nothing close to your professional skills! Going to check you out on Instagram now. :)
