Nice sound but you should consider doing a follow-up review with the microphone placed at the 12th fret. With the mic placed at the sound hole, it sounds too bassy. I'm the proud original owner of a Guild D55 from Westerly Rhode Island.

I heard a much warmer tone out of the Big Shot, personally liked that sound better than the added twang. Did sound like the signal may have lost some strength like I've hear from passive ABY's though, so it depends, maybe the right clean boost pedal would help.
@RobertSaxy2 жыл бұрын
How is the twin city dead quiet yet louder than the big shot that you complained about the noise? I just got a big shot (older one before the tonebone marking) and there was no difference in noise level in the amps with or without it, also turning on the iso switch gave me back the beefiness of the amps. I can’t speak on the Twin city one one though never used it

Nice video. On the Radial ABY will it take a 9 volt battery to run the LEDs....or only a power supply. Thanks. BTW: How do you like the MESA Mark V 25? I have a Meas Mark IV (bought it new around 1989-90) and was thinking of getting the Mark V 25 (combo version) for jamming. (lighter!) Phil NYC Area

I use the Red Series (low-G) strings from Aquila. My T1K sounds like a little guitar, it has a really warm sound. I think the over-bright sound comes from the Martin strings. They’re nice strings, especially for that authentic Hawaiian sound, but I prefer a warmer sound. I like the low-G tuning because it adds a lot of possibilities for walking bass riffs, and I like it when the root note of a chord is the lowest note, like a guitar. Try experimenting with different strings and you can get rid of that overly bright sound…

I purchased one without my usual preliminary test in the music store (that weird Covid thing, you know ... ) and because of many positive reviews. That turned out to be a mistake. The design contains many flaws. Honestly: *there is a high probability that it does NOT fit your guitar and/or will damage the finish* . I will keep it short. May not fit on: a hollow body jazz guitar with a tail piece, a guitar with an attachment knob combined with battery cover (although very flat!) of an internal pickup, when the button is a bit thicker (more common than you'd think), when the button is at a certain position relative to the neck-body transition, etc etc. . The attachment rings are hard plastic, ready to damage the lacquer of your cherished instrument. I realised all this very quickly, so I don't understand how there can be so many positive reviews. Don't waste your money on this, it's not cheap, unless you have tried it for your specific guitar.
@Litanic3 жыл бұрын
Wow, thanks for pointing that out! I was about to use it on a 1000 euro guitar, but I guess I'll just stick to leather attachments.
@gregorywilson33182 жыл бұрын
@@Litanic Best thing you could do is to try it out for yourself from sweet water or your local guitar shop. Most will understand if for any reason you take it back. For me it works great though I am using a Squier Strat’ however my more exspensive acoustic Ibanez is irreplaceable with a fine satin finish. Old and pretty much one of a kind especially since she was passed on to me when my Grandfather passed years ago. I use the D’Adario autolock strap on my Ibanez without worry as it fits snug like a bug. The strap buttons on my Ibanez acoustic are large and extra large on the bottom of the body so as I previously stated just try it out for yourself. Most things are best that way as some works for others and some do not (relatable to most things). Best feature is that you don’t have to tale off original strap buttons (I won’t do that on my Ibanez acoustic) and it’s easy to switch from one guitar to another! The plastic is not a constant banging matter so worry not about the finish on your beauty my friend. If you do decide to take a leap of faith then do let me know. Joyous blessings to the both of you and your families ‘n’ HAPPY holidays!!! ☯️

Hugo i have a question i live in Montreal Canada and in winter my house get very dry.Since i collect action figure and humidity is very bad for those high end collectables having a humidifier in the house is out of question.If i only buy laminate ukulele will they be ok in my dry house.
@hugohelmermusic3 жыл бұрын
A Laminate uke is much less susceptible to humidity and dryness damage... just keep it out of the Extremes I.E. Cold like in keeping it in your car on a super cold day or the other side is dont leave it in front of a heater or fire or near a window on a hot and sunny day. and if you stay away from those conditions really the most fragile thing is going to be the strings. so Yes a Laminate Uke in dry conditions will tend to do just fine in theory... But i cant say 100% that everything will be ok and perfect.

@hugohelmermusic4 жыл бұрын
If you were just doing Strumming and chords, the difference between solid top and laminate top is smaller... but with fingerstyle playing if there's a choice between solid top and laminate top... Always go solid top. Better overall sound, better overall tone so you can really hear those nice crisp highs and those rich full low tones.

Aquila are generally best on a laminated uke. Best way to enhance the tone of your instrument.
