I really don't "get" mccoy. I started playing piano in 85 and modern harmony (jazz) in 93. This is not really saying anything, it's just some low grade "wank".

Do you want insight on how to ‘’get’’ McCoy or just leave a comment lacking nuance?
@stuartdann126120 күн бұрын
@@JonTkeys I don't rate this particular solo. I'm proficient and rate a lot of decent players and mccoy, but not this solo. Everyone is gushing over it and I just don't feel it. There's no real structure, evolution or point. It's just noodling.

I can’t remember I since traded the voyager for a minimoog! It had 2 oscillators in fifths, probably sawtooth. The pedals add a lot of spaciness to it

Thanks! I also have a suitcase lying around, different sound don’t know which one i prefer!
@off_key8811 ай бұрын
@@JonTkeys I like that the Stage 88 has low notes... but I haven't restored it and the suitcase is a later model, so it was in better condition. I did put new rubber grommets on the tines, that helped it. But you're right, they sound different. I do run my Stage 88 through my Fender Bassman amp... it's wonderful. I can only imagine how it would sound if I had the time to fully restore it...

Id like to make transcriptions like this in the future, but I am really struggling with transcribing the chord voicings used. How do you come about that? It’d be really helpful. Thank you
@JonTkeys11 ай бұрын
Hello, it helps if you have a little bit of knowledge on who you are transcribing! In this case I knew mccoy used a lot of 4th voicing so it helped finding which ones. Otherwise you can slow it down a lot, use your ears and elimination process and many hours!

@JonTkeys11 ай бұрын
Salut!
