I hear you there, all bushes have been replaced apart from the rear subframe and diff, tyres all round and a few other bits and I've spent over half again already, but it's still a great car for 3-4k UK. And I'll know that it shouldn't break in those areas for a long while 😆

Just fixed mine before I came across this video, did you take the old resister out by rotating it inside the hole, the video I watched before I did the job told me to pry it out with a screwdriver, which I think made me damage the hole (luckily the new resistor still fit inside)

Does it drain the battery at all when you switch off the engine? I purchased the XTRONS version a couple of months ago, installed it, it doesn't actually go into standby when you switch off, it just sleeps and drains the battery. So got rid of it and sent it back! If this is all good and doesn't drain the battery then I'm tempted to purchase!

I had a 320i e46 touring many many years ago and I loved it. We bought it to cart the kids around in and it was great for that plus quite good fun when I was heading out on my own. We traded it in for a vw touareg due to moving into a new house which was on the side of a mountain. The Touareg was one of the worst cars I’ve ever owned. We only had it 3 weeks before handing it back to the dealership but unfortunately they’d already sent my e46 to auction so I never saw it again. I’d love another one but this time it would be a 330d auto touring. It’s crazy to see how much they’ve come down in price 😮

Solves the light issue, but currently in the UK the light needs to illuminate and then go off with the ignition as part as the yearly inspection 👍 you could always wire up a timed relay to achieve that I guess 😆

They’re getting a little dear in the U.S., but I think an e30 is the best personal commuter car ever built. Mine has 15”, Type 5 euroweaves with rock hard low(er) profile tires & Bilstein Sports all around - it’s noticeably more harsh than it was on 14” bottlecaps, but it’s better than what you’re driving. Way better. Your critique of the car’s handling characteristics is funny. Seriously - fix your car. Get the not-BMW crap off of it & return it to more or less stock. Mine is basically a 325iS, & aside from the Bilsteins everything on the car has an e30 specific, BMW part number. It’s what BMW meant for it to be. I could pull a wheel off the car, stick it in the trunk, & it’d still handle better than pretty much anything out there without busting my kidneys along the way. I say it’s the _perfect_ daily - nothing else out there has the dna of the 2002tii & the e21 wrapped up in an attractive, comfortable & functionally refined version of both.

Don't know how the car is doing todays, but man dont worry, that isnt a lost cause at all. those are quite easily fixed areas and wont be too hard to do if you can hold a grinder and a welder. One area at a time and the best is to grind and cut all contaminated bits off and patch them with new sheet metal. a lot of areas are saveable just by grinding, acid paint and seal, no need to weld. Best i can say is, do one area at a time, dont even think about the other spots before you have finished the area you are working on or it can get overwhelming
@PenaxxeMc

+ honestly its quite possible to do in a small budget aswell. only main cost is the welding part, but you shoud do it yourself if possible

Consolidate, sell the Civic, get the E30 done and use it as your fun car that could potentially take you on a track day or two. If you want something more comfortable to daily maybe swap the E46 for an X5, although E39 sounds great too. 😁

@Keats.Garage
@Keats.Garage 8 ай бұрын
Hey, this is a problem when replacing the BMW units with aftermarket setups. The original units provide a balanced audio output, which is about 7Db louder then stock headunit amps, which is why you have this effect of it getting quieter. I "solved" this by upping the EQ on my headunit to be maxed out which has made it bearable but it really isn't the best, my next step is a custom amp setup using BMW's oem wiring, still working out some kinks with it
