How to Change the Interior Fan Resistor Pack on a VW Polo 6R

A bit of work on a car that's not my own! This problem can be quite common on any car, and they all follow a roughly similar simple system. The resistor packs get hot and fail over time, so if your fan is only blowing on speed 4, then this is probably why!
Definitely worth knowing how "easy" a fix your interior fan only working on the max speed is - be aware that these resistors do get hot which causes them to fail. So be sure to handle with care if you're testing it as I was outside of it's designed location.

Still can't get glove box out there's another fastening after 2 hours cannot find somewhere on left hand side at bottom just can't find it 😮

Having same problem with my 2014 polo.. although blower works on both 3 and 4... do you suspect is still resistor.?

@@PatchedThePipe it could still be the blower resistor, if you have a multi meter you can test it if you pull it out. Check continuity on the earth leg and all of the others, if no continuity it's bad 👍

The resistor won't change this at all, it only changes the fan speed. Yours is probably something else If your fan only works on max and nothing before that the resistor is dead.

Not that bad of a job to do yourself if you've got small hands 😆 about £15 it cost me for the part
