A great scene and possible nod to the foederati system of later Roman Empire. Where they settle invading and troublesome barbarians peoples inside the empires boundaries in return for military service.

Quiten las puertas de entrada en sus casas para que irrumpan sin problemas los que las quieren ocupar, y verán cómo se cae el imperio romano en poco más de 70 metros cuadrados...

This takes me back to when I was a kid, back when there were only a few channels on TV. When The Fall of the Roman Empire came on, the excitement was unreal we felt so thrilled. Seeing legends like Sophia Loren and Stephen Boyd made it feel even more special. I also loved Boyd in Ben Hur. Actors of that era were true greats, larger than life, and every film felt like an event.

1964... Soon after Kennedy's murder. Malcon X would be killed few months lather in the begining of 1965. In 1964 the USA decided to finance the dictatorship in Brazil and in 68 M.L. King was killed. I can't help but imagine that the ones who wrote this message to the american public were the ones defeated by the neocons and woke aristocracy that currently governs the empire. The pax americana indeed never came. The question that lingers is whether or not the american people still believe in US...

It's interesting to see Stephen Boyd starring in this as a Roman as he did in Ben Hur as Massala opposite Charlton Heston.

This long scene is probably better acting than anything I've seen in modern movies in a long time. I was captivated all the way through.

This movie is extremely inaccurate. Every free man in the Roman Empire was already a citizen at this point. Also the senate would never have argued with the emperor this intensely, nor would the emperor need to argue with the Senate, as he was essentially a military dictator in all but name by this point in the empires history

"There comes a time when its people no longer believe in it. Then does an empire begin to die." Thank goodness, as an American, I can't see any connection between this wise statement and our present situation.

Funny how they advocate for allowing the immigrants in for a stronger multicultural to integrated society. Only for it to not really work out and ultimately end in the fall of Rome. Some kind of lesson to be learnt here maybe.
