I've had success on small club pools with maggot feeder but use it on canal basins and reservoir now.

I mostly use the wip for the roach, but the carp can be a pain when they turn up 0.10 and 10+lb carp d'not mix lol, I will give the maggot feeder a go next time out. dave

I haven't been able to fish for a while due to health issues but in the past I've used maggot feeders both on rivers and commercial lakes in the colder months 👍. Great video by the way guys.

Fascinating video! This video provides an opportunity to understand fish behavior, what happens at the bottom, and what needs to be done! Thank you for such an experience.

Deciding on what hooks and hooklengths to use can be so confusing. So its great to see that Jamie has distilled that down to three hook patterns in 100mm or 150mm lengths. I carry 3 sizes in each of the MXC-1, MXC-3 and MXC-6, with a band or a quick-stop as appropriate.

It's interesting that the rudd show almost no interest in the paste. That might be the answer to a big problem at a water I fish at! They are like piranhas on any other bait.

'Underwaters' can really mess with your head......that's why I watch every one I can. I have watched every one of these type of films across the interweb....and I think Jaime is absolutely right. I do many different types of fishing including lures and many lure fishing pro's talk about generating 'reaction bites'. I think that all anglers, in all disciplines should aim to trigger 'reaction bites'. To me 'little and often' baiting tactics are aiming to trigger the fish to become competitive and reactive. They are constantly triggered by their instincts to rush in first and monopolise a food source before their pals turn up and scoff it. It excites them and does not give them time to examine the bait coming in and realise that it could be 'dangerous'. I love fishing the 'method' and using a stopwatch to time the bites. In many ways 'the method' is the ultimate 'little and often' approach. The stopwatch literally allows you to measure the fishes level of reactiveness and 'competitiveness'. As a method fishing sessions develops the fish become more 'frenzied' and less and less cautious as learn that the sound of the feeder splashing down means a new food source that they have to get to first. Now all these 'underwaters' and the truth that they represent create a bit of a dilemma. Especially for bivvy dwelling 'Carpy' anglers (like me occasionally). They show that there is almost always fish in your peg, even if you don't see a thing, and unless your fishing some massive water then fish will probably be over your bait within 20 minutes of it hitting the bottom. I watched a Carp angler on the 'tube' recently answer a viewer question recently.... Q: "How long are you happy to leave your rig out before you recast?" A: "I'm happy to leave it out for 24 hours and still be confident about getting a bite". Now after watching many, many 'underwater' videos for both carp and match fishing my brain is thinking "bollocks!" If you have not a bite after an hour you should probably change something because several fish have probably eyeballed it and think its 'iffy' or your getting 'done' -probably several times!

You have to film what has not been don't yet. The edge have done F1s shallow. Guru have done a couple with the method and AB on the pole. It would be good if filming in murky water was possible as fish behaviour, and how they identify food, is possibly very different than clear water. Infared Cameras may be?

Sorry lads totally disagree with the fish mouth damage, I did a feature many years ago on a barbless hook only venue, and before I even hooked a fish I new the hook would slip and cut the mouth once landed the hook had slipped nearly an inch through the mouth no bullying or over gunned tactics, but it’s not all hooks fine mono rubbing on their lips being constantly hooked is the equivalent of the being tethered all the time week in week out then add being landed in spoon nets carp lifted on their faces I’ve seen many times then put in keepnets rubbing them up some more, I believe it’s just a combination of a lot of friction from line nets and hooks, I’ve only ever seen MULTIPLE stock with mouths like these on commercials/over stocked lakes that are caught regularly unfortunately there’s no way around it these kind of venues can’t go micro barbed neither can thicker lines be used, styles of nets etc . If your theory of carp that feed on stones/gravel a lot end up like this gravel pit carp up and down the country would all look like these but they don’t, big or small old or young they simply don’t. Its simply friction. Love the underwaters would love to see a pink or colour sinking bandum on the bottom with pellet feed on the pole . Great work lads

I recall when I was much younger and fishing floating baits on club lakes how frustrating it was that the fish, wise to what was happening, would clear every freebie and avoid the hook bait. Those memories have stuck with me and I always assume the same now when fishing commercials, especially margins....that the fish are down there, mopping up the feed, I've just got to find the edge that gets the bite.
