Did you try the pelham blue one with the staple pickup in the neck? Specs said medium jumbo frets as well as a stinger. The one you are playing says jumbo frets and weight relieved. If so did you prefer one over the other at all?

I bought one of these new back around 1966, when the full British invasion craze was on. I'm pretty sure it cost around $30, but I never really learned to play and sold it to a friend for $20 after a couple of years. Also, I suppose it didn't help that I couldn't afford any kind of an amplifier.

These are not gold foil. I've got a Comet with the same humbucker in bridge. You can also buy the pickups on their OEM for cheap. Their humbucker is very close to a low wind PAF and sounds NOTHING like the Dearmonds I replaced them with. The jupiter's neck sounds like a mini-humbucker, and not at all like a Guyatone or a Teisco. They do sound great, but that's not the gold foil sound.

Mine came today 5/4/24 and it is absolutely incredible, The tone is amazing ... I haven't even conditioned the fretboard yet or had my tech do my usual setup and out of the box it rails! I have always been a Gibson purist and this is my first Epiphone. A big reason I bought it is that I have always wanted a triple pickup SG like Glen Buxton of the original Alice Cooper band used, but never was willing to pay the price for one as I am a Les Paul player primarily. But what sold me was the real open book Gibson headstock, which is an out of the park home run, real Custombucker pickups which alone cost $$$ and, the ebony fretboard. It did not disappoint and as I've said I haven't even taken it to my tech yet! That happens on monday. Win Win Win !!!! 🎸
