I don't believe, as an angel, Gandalf, a true servant of the gods, would be terrified of the Witch King. I think his deep concern for the welfare of others above himself in terms of safety from the corrupting powers of the Nazgul is sometimes mistaken for his fear towards the Witch King. Plus, Gandalf is way more powerful than the Witch King, but he doesn't show it because he is humble and unassuming, while the Witch King would appear so much more powerful than he really is because, as a servant of evil, he is overbearing, prideful, and a show-off.

I believe the Nameless Things were blinked into existence through Morgoth's interference with Illuvatar's theme, during the initial forming of Middle-Earth.

This doesn't explain anything, and I know the title doesn't say it would, but it would be nice, and anyways, the problem is that it's just the same thing repeated over and over and over and over and over and over again. With the only difference every time being the images, and the different word choices. Goofy ahh AI generated text too. And, of course, you can forget that it has that beautiful AI voice.

The wizard’s mission was to advise the people of middle earth not rule so if saruman hadn’t turned i doubt he would’ve started commanding armies as it wasn’t what he was supposed to be doing
@chrisserafino46748 күн бұрын
All the nameless things are born of the void, the void being the darkness that existed before “god” said let there be light. Before middle earth was created, etc. Before the “song of creation” They pose a bigger threat because in the end all creation ends, and returns to nothingness. They are a different evil that gnaws and consumes creation itself. Its tolkeins omage to outerversal existential horror. A nod to the horror genre most likely
@ProtoIndoEuropean888 күн бұрын
of course the presence of lovecraft's horrors have to exist even in lord of the rings.

This feels like a badly generated AI script! There are Nameless Things in the deep places of the world, of Middle-Earth, not just in Moria, as this video keeps repeating... And more importantly, how can you have a video about the Nameless Things, focus on Moria and not even mention The Watcher in the Water??? who is arguably more of a Nameless Thing (considering it's origin is unknown) then the Balrog of Morgoth?!?!
@hima_da_true_right9 күн бұрын
Yet you referring to the concept of two gods one is good and one is evil and that contradicts what Tolkein referring to. Tolkein creed’s is Christianty an Abrahamic religion who is rooted into only one God nothing is equal nor alike himself neither existed before him he created everything perhaps these nameless things were created by Eru before or may even in the same time like the Valar but unmentioned by Tolkein.

Too often these types of video also appear to have been written by AI, with nonsensical ideas which bear no relation to Tokien's canon. I now avoid all AI narrated videos as they're simply lazy, created to farm KZbin algorithms.

Ancient, Nameless and Gnawing... is not the same as "powerful" in the sense that we understand it - and that may actually be the case... they are so alien that their intersection with other creatures is so obtuse that their motivations are misinterpreted... e.g., if you come near then insanity or death occurs but this may not be "power" merely presence - just the same as if you flew too close to Jupiter and were caught in its gravity well - this does not make the Powerful Jupiter evil... merely deadly and not understood... (or so they have told me to report).

I think the biggest question is what would've happened without Gandalf the white
@person5563210 күн бұрын
With Saruman doing his job? It would have been fine. Gandalf says in the book that part of why he was sent back as the white was to replace Saruman.
@MarshWaha10 күн бұрын
I would like to believe his fate would still be the same. Instead of replacing Saruman I mean just imagine if there were two white wizards? Instead of one that’s one possibility. Because we don’t understand how wizards are upgraded in middle earth. I’m not really sure because I mean, could he be sent back as Gandalf the gray again?sure maybe that I do not know it’s the same question I’ve had too. I’m not exactly sure.
@GarretMadden8 күн бұрын
Great question, all respects to random “person”, none of this would be possible without Gandalf. He had a more personal relationship with them and their confidence stemmed from knowing he would be there to help aid.

Correction: it wasn't the Valar that decided Gandalf's fate to return as Gandalf the White, it was Eru Iluvatar himself. The Valar initially sent Gandalf, as the Grey, but that was the extent of their intervention. The rest falls directly on Eru Iluvatar as evidenced by the massive power shift between Gandalf the Grey and the White. Eru Iluvatar allowed Gandalf to use more of his power than he was ever allowed as the Grey and even gave him additional powers in order to overcome the forces of Sauron and be able to accomplish his mission. As far as the power dynamic between Gandalf and the Witch King, both as the Grey and the White, Gandalf always had the upper hand in the regard. After all the Witch King was a mere mortal, not a Maia. However being an Istari Gandalf didn't have access to all of his Maia power. As the Grey he only had a fraction of it, and while as the White he had all of it and than some, his mission didn't change. That mission, of the Istari, was to be an advisor and guide, not a warrior. Moreover his mandate was to use as little of his power as was necessary and only use it when absolutely necessary. Thus Gandalf could have easily defeated the Witch King but that would have meant failing in his mission, in the same way that Saruman failed it, being a fellow Istari. Therefore Gandalf chose the side of caution and giving the Witch King the respect he deserved, not necessarily because Gandalf couldn't handle the Witch King but rather because he was always a role model for others: the free peoples. Even the mightiest of them(like say Elrond, Cirdan or Aragorn) are nowhere near Gandalf's power level(even as the Grey) thus if Gandalf himself feared the Witch King than all the free peoples will too. If Gandalf was to be cocky and brash than maybe the likes of Elrond and Aragorn wouldn't have given the Witch King the respect he deserved and acted arrogantly against him, which could very well have led to their own downfall and with that all but guaranteed Sauron's victory. Gandalf the White had significantly more power of course, to the point where he absolutely could rival Sauron, which was never true for Gandalf the Grey nor for Olorin for that matter as Sauron was the strongest of all the Maia until Eru Iluvatar's intervention. However again if Gandalf slew the Witch King, which he absolutely could as he was no man but a Maia, as you correctly said, than again he would have failed his mission, becoming the warrior or leader, just as Sauron became, rather than remain the advisor and guide to enable others to defeat Sauron and remain free from all divine(Valar and Maiar) influences, which was the whole reason the Istari came to be in the first place.

Eh... you can't have it both ways. If the world was created without evil then no evil should be in it. If you make a being that desires power and control then you made evil.

Yes, Gandalf the White could defeat the Witch King, but he chose not to destroy the man but left his fate to die from Eowyn and Merry fulfilling the prophecy and most importantly crushing the pride which the Witch King held for his sacrifice turning to evil. To be crushed by a Maiar akin to Sauron was not a disgrace but to fall to a woman and a hobbit was humbling and disgrace. All his prideful history crushed.
