OOF, that embarrassing horn blooper in the overture during the solo. I'm sure that player was absolutely mortified and was kicking himself for the rest of the evening. And here it is, captured on youtube for everyone to cringe at forever.

I saw this in Dallas before it went to Broadway. I had a friend in the ensemble. Tyne wasn't the greatest singer, but my God her acting was brilliant. My ex and I went out to a bar the next night and she and the entire cast were there. My ex went up to her and told her how brilliant she was and that she was going to get the Tony. She hugged him and said "From your mouth to God's ears." Guess God was listening!

I don't know if you're still active on KZbin but do you still have a copy of the Broadway version one? I would like to watch it but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks x

Best version of gypsy
@bwayskotdАй бұрын
I walked home 10 blocks from this production in tears. Gypsy is one of my all-time favorites (I have played Herbie twice), but I was so stirred by "Patti's" Turn - it left me so emotionally vulnerable that I couldn't shake it. That was a performance for the ages.

What a treat. I was so disappointed that I didn't get to New York to see Patti in Gypsy, but this is the second best thing and I loved it! Thank you for risking your life to film and post! Just wondering, did anyone else think some of the tempos were rushed? Just my opinion

We were learning about Aristotle in Theatre History, and my teacher just ever so casually mentioned that there was a musical adaptation of his play The Frogs by Stephen Sondheim and that people like Meryl Streep, Christopher Durang, and Sigourney Weaver were all in the original workshops at Yale. I was the only one in my class who was completely blown away by that fact and did a deep dive into this glorious musical. Their loss. Rest in Peace, you beautiful minded genius. We love you, Stephen Sondheim.

@fshepinc3 ай бұрын
It wasn't actually a flop. It was booked for a strictly limited run at Lincoln Center. There was a brief extension, but the response wasn't strong enough to consider a Broadway transfer.

TD has always had a natural easy and realistic way of delivering lines. Her performace here is just brilliant. Lupone: YUKK.... Peters: so so... Landsbury and Daly, win by a landslide

I agree! Everyone always raves about Patti in this role, but I don’t get it. She belts the hell out the songs, but that was about it. 🤷🏻♂️
@smurf90211 ай бұрын
I saw this performance. I couldnt fully enjoy it because SO MANY of the audience members would anticipate laughs and generally disrupt the natural flow of the show, like they were at a Patti concert, not a show. It's not their fault or hers, the shoe was so popular by this time and so many people waited for her to do the role..but i was very perturbed.
