I've done two acrylic prints from Bayphoto and am afraid to spend the money to try agian. I've had air bubbles behind the acrylic on one fresh out of the box... The other developed air bubbles as the acrylic was seperating from the print.

Bay Photo used to be good. However, I can no longer recommend them after my last three experiences with them over the last couple of months as something is seriously wrong with their quality control. I recently ordered a framed 20x30 Epic Print with a black wood float frame. The total with shipping was around $500. The "epic" print I received was heavily blown out with overexposed highlights. The blue sky was turned white and the print was framed with a metal (not wood) frame. I contacted their customer service department and they re-printed the "epic" print. However, this time it was severely underexposed. You can barely see any color or detail in the subject's face. I ended up just using my original test print from Shutterfly that cost me $12 through Costco. The $12 Shutterfly matte finish on Fuji Crystal Archive print looks amazing. The two $500 so called "Epic" prints from Bay Photo are complete garbage. IBefore this experience, I had ordered another Fuji matte print on Gator board that was also severely blown out. I ended up having that image re-printed from my local printer and again, their re-print looks great. I am in utter disbelief at how awful the quality from Bay Photo has become.

We're so sorry to hear about your experience, as it does not sound like our usual standards. We've looked at your order closely, and are unable to find inaccuracies with the file submitted. We'll keep digging to make sure there are no issues with our processes, and will be in touch directly as we investigate further.

Great video. Thanks. I do wonder however, when you are soft proofing, the surrounding area on screen in Lightroom, switches from a neutral gray to white. Do you see this as a problem when comparing the soft-proofed image with the non soft-proofed image?
@bayphotolab Жыл бұрын
Hi Walt, So sorry we missed your comment! We're at somewhat of a loss as to why that switch happens, but it might be simulating the image on paper. We might suggest zooming in on the image slightly so that the image fills the entire preview window, which would eliminate the problem. Also, if you choose the side-by-side view that displays the before and after in the same window, we believe that it makes the background white on both. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Service Team: bayphoto.com/contact

@@bayphotolab Is it better to send a tif file or is a jpg enough? I've always sent jpg for metal prints up to 40 x 60 and they look great. I ask on here vs emailing so others can see the answer.

Why does Bay Photo prefer Jpeg format over Tiff if Tiff offers more information ? Why is there no mention of whether DNG compression is except-able with photo files ? Thank you.

Hi Steve, So sorry we missed your comment! A first generation jpg is just as sufficient as a tif file when it comes to the information needed for print. Now I don’t want anything as flash as this guy is showing but I see good options on your website. Now the problem. Do you ship to the UK? Initially I just want some A4 and A3 prints on good paper. I can frame at home.

Instead of ordering an acrylic print for the hard proof step, couldn't you just order a photographic print on the same photographic paper that would be face-mounted to the acrylic? Seems like that would be a more economical but every-bit-as accurate method of achieving hard proof results.

Great presentation! I'd like to print a PNG art where we have a transparent background and I want the metal texture to be seen through directly. I uploaded both JPG and PNG on BayPhoto online ordering system and they both look the same, meaning that there was a white background after uploading for PNG as well. So, I wonder if printing PNG with transparent background is possible, or is there any way to have the entire background of my art to be seen through the metal texture.

So sorry we missed your comment! Sheer MetalPrints start out as aluminum-based vs. white-based, so the entire surface will show the white and light areas as transparent.
