I use to fish out of Rough Canyon Marina in the 80's and 90'. My old boss owned and ran the old bar and lodging there for many years, which made it easier on the wallet. I still know were some of the old ranches are that were flooded during construction, which is home to lots big size bass! Great Fishery!

Great vid. Thx. I have saved over $60,000 with my pull trailer over the last 15 years, saving hotel/meals. I fish for salmon and steelhead out west. I want something like this because I can get a couple hours extra sleep. Instead of leaving my house at 3AM and I can wake at 4.30 at the ramp. This looks like a nice option because it is light and you don't need a hitch extender. My question to you-- if you had a 1 ton dually, would you go this route again or get a bigger, heavier hard side? I have the dually-- but I'm usually fishing alone now. Kids have grown up... But those bigger campers are over 3,000 lbs. That's alot of weight no matter the size of the truck.

If I had a 1 ton dually, I would have gone bigger. I do have 2 kids and a 80# Doby that frequently travel with me and the extra room and amenities offered would be nice. Although when it’s just me this camper has plenty of room. I do have a 24” hitch extension nothing crazy just a properly rated one from Reese.

I’ve been using 3 Ionic 50ah for my trolling motor for 3 years now and love them. I’ve only killed them once and that took roughly 10 hours of use fishing in fast current. I’m about to upgrade my crank/electronics battery to the Ionic 125ah but I’m debating if I should go with 2 in parallel. I’m not running near as many electronics as you are though. Just a 12” graph at the console and 7” on the bow.

I have a question my boat is usually 2 hours away from where I leave, I go on the weekends and usually fish. Can I put the ionic battery on the charger and leave it until the next time I fish. Also leave it on when I’m storage it for the winter
@caverncityoutdoors
@caverncityoutdoors 10 ай бұрын
I personally would recommend taking off the charger as soon as it’s fully charged. My batteries charge up quick maybe 2 hours or so. I have left mine on the charger and the battery goes to standby mode to prevent overcharging which can lead to thermal runaway and fire. Thats only if the internal battery management system was to fail. I have not heard of this happening on these particular batteries. Once charged the batteries hold the charge a long time. They do not self discharge at the rate of lead acid or agm. Hope that helps.

I have serviced many Lowrance Ghost trolling motors and, from a service perspective, know everything about that trolling motor. I personally love the way it functions but I have concerns over it's durability. How are you feeling about the switch now? For reference the voltage indicator doesn't actually do anything but illuminate. The Ghost senses the incoming voltage automatically adjusts. The voltage indicator light is just a "feels" thing. The direction indicator however has always and will always be an issue. It is not as responsive as some would like. We remove them and polish the edges, and legs, then lube the legs with some Teflon and place a dallop of dielectric on the white tab underneath. It generally works about 75% better after that.
@caverncityoutdoors

#1 You started out by saying you are super hard on your equipment so apparently that Minn kota lasted through 5 years of abuse by you. Then you said a smashed connector "might" have been your fault, MIGHT HAVE BEEN? You said you have hit rocks and other stuff then complained that things broke, really. Lastly you said that long rod in your hand broke, maybe you hit a rock, I think you did hit a rock and it broke. What a piece of junk, 5 years of abuse and something broke because YOU hit a rock so the trolling motor is not what you want. From what you say, neither is an Abrams Tank. Apparently you think Garmin will not break, oops, something has already gone wrong with it. Good luck. Personally I think that trolling motor lasted extremely well considering the way you treated it according to YOU.

I run two 100ah on my 16 foot flats boat / skiff. Trolling motor is a 80# 24v Minn Kota Riptide Fortrex. After 6-7 hours fighting the tide and wind they are only down to 70-60%. The Bluetooth app is great, finally no more guessing about charge level. These things are so light, I saved 137lbs over my 3 AGM setup (2 trolling / 1 house). Only had them 6 months but so far so good. Outboard is a 90hp Yamaha so I’m not cranking anything big.
