I have my 2023 Palomino 1251 on a 2500 HD Duramax truck that I use to deliver 10,000 lb. firewood processors with all over the US. No motels. No check in check out. No reservations. No bed bugs. (Ewwww) I can stop and over night just about anywhere. If I am by myself I dont even need to pop it up to catch a nap and the bathroom is still use able with enough head room. This is my 6th truck camper in 20 years. Three have been Palominos.

I have the Palomino HS 750. Absolutely love having a truck bed camper. I tow my boat as well with it on the truck and it’s saved me thousands already in hotel bills.

I have the same model. Used to have the soft side 550 model. Got so sick of dealing with the roof lol. Hard side is way better.

It absolutely is harmful if you do not provide additional support to the metal braces below.

The 2016 build looks SO much better than my 2021 build... Can't stand the outside actuators. Already had to do the upgrade because 3 of them failed. Can you give some details on how you installed the tv? Length of fasteners, did you just drill into the ceiling willy nilly or did you have some structural points?
@randystern7870 Жыл бұрын
Great review! Thanks! Where did you get your TV mount and how to locate the structure in the ceiling to mount it to? Thank you!!

Great vid. Thx. I have saved over $60,000 with my pull trailer over the last 15 years, saving hotel/meals. I fish for salmon and steelhead out west. I want something like this because I can get a couple hours extra sleep. Instead of leaving my house at 3AM and I can wake at 4.30 at the ramp. This looks like a nice option because it is light and you don't need a hitch extender. My question to you-- if you had a 1 ton dually, would you go this route again or get a bigger, heavier hard side? I have the dually-- but I'm usually fishing alone now. Kids have grown up... But those bigger campers are over 3,000 lbs. That's alot of weight no matter the size of the truck.

If I had a 1 ton dually, I would have gone bigger. I do have 2 kids and a 80# Doby that frequently travel with me and the extra room and amenities offered would be nice. Although when it’s just me this camper has plenty of room. I do have a 24” hitch extension nothing crazy just a properly rated one from Reese.

Thanks for the video, does you're Tremor tailgate have the step, auto release and camera's. How hard is it to remove? When ordering on the fird website it says non-removable.
@caverncityoutdoors Жыл бұрын
It’s not too hard to remove. Couple wire connectors to disconnect behind bumper, disconnect retaining straps, and pick up the tailgate to about 45 degree angle. Best to have someone help. Passenger side hinge comes out first if I remember right and then driver side pulls out. No tools needed it only takes about 10 mins or so. Oh and lesson learned open the tailgate before you disconnect the wire connections… darn electric locks 😂 Hope that helps.

And yes my tailgate is as you described camera, step,etc.

Thanks. We have an SS 550 that we were using on a Tundra and want to upgrade, but we didn't know how hat it was going to be to remove the tailgate on the Tremor. Now that you answered that there are many options

What do you think about the soft flaps?? Is that an issue at all or no? Like in high winds etc.. I just am purchasing a 1240... and first timer here haha

Do you typically remove it from the truck when camping, thus needing the 4x4 supports?
@caverncityoutdoors Жыл бұрын
I’d say I remove it 90% of the time. Makes getting in and out way easier. Plus I’m normally towing a boat in addition.

I would love to have one for the reasons you have mentioned, but as expensive as truck campers are, I can rent and split a lot of rooms for the cost and maintenance.

@@derektaylorfishing You can find a used one for a reasonable price. I bought a 1997 Sunlite that was it really good shape for $2,600. I've had to do a few minor repairs, and added solar to it. Total, I have $3,100 in it. I don't have electric jacks, and they cost to much for me. But still would be a lot cheaper then buying a new $30,000 camper.

Have you had any issues with the camper battery not charging via the truck connection? My SS-550 is experiencing issues with my 2017 F250 not charging it... Thanks!
@caverncityoutdoors Жыл бұрын
I have not but I believe it could be either a fuse or your trucks 7way plug is not set up with the supply power.
