VFW admonishes Trump!! NYMA failed! WASHINGTON - “On Thursday, former President Donald Trump spoke at an event where he made some flippant remarks about the Medal of Honor and the heroes who have received it. In the video that has circulated online and in the media, the former president was recognizing Miriam Adelson in the audience who he awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom during his time in office. As he described the medal as the civilian version of the Medal of Honor, he went on to opine that the Medal of Freedom was “much better” than the military’s top award, because those awarded the latter are, in his words, “ … either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets or they’re dead.” He continued by comparing Miriam to MoH recipients saying, “She gets it and she’s a healthy beautiful woman. They are rated equal.” These asinine comments not only diminish the significance of our nation’s highest award for valor, but also crassly characterizes the sacrifices of those who have risked their lives above and beyond the call of duty. When a candidate to serve as our military’s commander-in-chief so brazenly dismisses the valor and reverence symbolized by the Medal of Honor and those who have earned it, I must question whether they would discharge their responsibilities to our men and women in uniform with the seriousness and discernment necessary for such a powerful position. It is even more disappointing when these comments come from a man who already served in this noble office and should frankly already know better. While the Presidential Medal of Freedom maybe our nation’s highest civilian award, the Medal of Honor is more sacred as it represents the gallantry and intrepidity of courageous and selfless service members, often at the cost of grievous wounds and even their lives. It’s because of our Medal of Honor recipients that great Americans like Miriam Adelson have the freedom to live to their fullest potential and make such lasting contributions to our great nation. We would like to remind Mr. Trump that the 12 times he had the honor of awarding the Medal of Honor as president of the United States, those were heroes not of his own choosing. He bestowed those medals on behalf of Congress, representing all Americans of a grateful nation. We hold the donation of their lives in service to our country in the highest esteem, and so should he.

I'd like to hear from more of the traders that are seen in this video. What happened to you people after the trading floors were closed? There might be an article, documentary or even a book about it. Inquiring filmmakers want to know.

@@AvektaProds Unfortunately once the trading floor officially closed the majority of the brokers, clerks and exchange staff either retired from trading & working at the exchange, sought employment in another line work or continued trading but from home. Our options trading pits were the last to close. Whereas our futures trading pits closed a few years earlier than the options pits. The New York board of trade/ ICE was such a unique exchange and I believe a proper film documentary or book would be an amazing idea. I personally have kept in contact with quite a few of the brokers and exchange staff over the years from time to time.

We had a wonderful time working for Compaq as their SIGGRAPH booth video producers. My team, headed by Jack Ehrbar (Now heading Millions of Tiny Robots in Atlanta, GA) even got to animate a cheetah for the promotion of that incredible chip. It's here on KZbin somewhere too. We should also remember Intergraph, a company that wisely migrated from engineering to animation with a fabulous booth at NAB. Intergraph's tech people came to my studio in the middle of a New Year's eve snow storm to debug a hardware problem so I could make a Monday animation deadline. What great people we have in this business, eh? Thanks to you all, out there!

One of my former employers (Foundation) and one my preferred computing brands from the 90s in one video. :D Owning SGI was out of the question '95 (I eventually got some, later), but machines like the AlphaStation (or the Raptor series) performed great for a fraction of the price.

Hmm. That's interesting, but I think the entire rock was subdivided originally by the development company. The house to the north of this house was built next, then the NW corner of Rock Place and Rockland, then 1 Rock Place at the end of the street, just to the south of the subject house, which in my opinion is the best location of all - but then I'm quite biased on that issue.

So does the clearing corporation then assume the risk of one party failing to enter their end of a trade? And if so, how do they then close out their position when they end up with a bunch of extra sugar? Do they have their own floor broker? And who clears that broker’s trades?

We have no idea. Our understanding was that all trades are balanced by the end of the day. We don't know how this was done, but suspect it was with cash!

The n word always had horrible connotations. Always. I wouldn’t expect him to care that much about the word because it doesn’t affect or mean anything to him. But the n word is a big deal and if the movie isn’t true history they shouldn’t use that word so much. And also I don’t care about his use of it in the movie because he’s not using it the same way everyone else is in the movie. but outside of the movie he should have the courtesy to not let it escape his thin lips.

SBS closed up shop in the early 2000s. I wasn't directly involved with them, but like many other artists I used software originally developed by them; Dynamation. Running on IRIX, it was (at the time) the best out-of-the-box solution for doing effects like rain, smoke, fire etc.
