I have flown China Airlines and China Eastern long haul from Shanghai to New York because the ticket was incredibly cheap. Having flown them before I knew to pack my own sandwiches, snacks, nuts, crisps etc as well as downloading lots of shows/movies on my iPad and MacBook so I did not have to rely on their inflight food and entertainment. The cabin crew were very kind and friendly. Some passengers were quite noisy, but that is why we have headphones and earplugs (you cannot fix/change most people). All in all a good airlines, but at the end of the day you are paying for the seat - do not expect much else (bring your own food and entertainment. It will make your travel experience much better).
@WanderVoyagerАй бұрын
I’m judging the airlines’ both hardware & software without brining my own materials to enhance my experience to see how it goes without those as some airlines don’t even need me to bring any items to enjoy my flight. This is just what it is at least about their hardware
@karlthomas3374Ай бұрын
@@WanderVoyager Fair enough and I totally agree with your statement. It is just in my experience. If a fare is crazy cheap or the airline has a bad reputation, you might have to bring your own food, media etc to make the trip more bearable. However, if you have paid an amount of money that you assume will come with standard comfort, food, amenities and entertainment then I understand you pointing out that is a very poor airline. Happy and safe travels for the future.

Okay I am a bit surprised. Some food should have been served in business class for a 90min flight, especially for a 5 star airline. Although airlines like Lufthansa treats its economy passengers like garbage now with just a bottle of water and a piece of chocolate for $150 price ticket, they serve a solid meal in business class for 60min flights although the price is $350-$450.

Very good review. Last year I flew the SIA 787-10 from Perth to Singapore. When I flew on the 787-10 aircraft the entertainment system was terrific and has a lot of different choices including movie genres, different tv shows, and music types as well as podcasts. In addition to this, there is also the Live TV where you can watch sport 24, cnnnn News, BBC news, NBc News. I also liked the Flight map system - it is innovative and you can use your fingers to track through other places of the world. Downs: the seats are crammed up and has a 17.5 inch width. When the plane touched down in Singapore morning, there was a lot of humidity being fogged up in the windows. At Changi airport, it was Fine, though Windy.

Crappy as well.. B777 is densified 10-abreast with 31" pitch. A350 has rock hard seat back. It's literally wrapped hard plastic with no padding.
@SFAvgeek2 ай бұрын
@@_w_w_ The a321neo has 13.3 inch ife, 32 inch pitch, 18.1 inch width, in economy. They def have the best a321 seat dimensions in ASIA. And idk why people hate on 3-4-3 777s. Unless you always get the middle row, there’s no need to complain so much. 31 pitch? Yh that isn’t very good, but 17.5 inch width with is good bad. The only difference between 3-3-3 and 3-4-3 is 0.3 inch seats width and a much larger aisle.
@_w_w_2 ай бұрын
@@SFAvgeek You don't fly a lot huh? Or you are always upfront to know the issue in the back. 3-4-3 777 means super narrow seat... You clearly do not know the critical seatwidth numbers for all the major aircraft in the sky. A380 has the widest, followed by A330, and densified B777 is the worst along with B787, with A350 in the middle. I fly long-haul nearly every week, so trust me, that 1-2" make a huge difference of whether you and your neighbor will elbow each other. CI's A321neo is the standard configuration for A321neo. The screen is indeed large and nice but it's about the only thing good about this aircraft. The seat material is some type of fake leather or coated leather, and it has a weird powdery coating that's very very very very slippery. I can try to sit up straight but would always slide down and forward. I have flown close to a dozen times on this A321neo and worn 4 or 5 different pants just to make sure it's not my pants' fabric.. but yes, it's the seat., so after the initial fanfare, I try to avoid it nowadays. Honestly, China Airlines does not have a decent plane in their fleet. Everyone has notable issues - this is why I've learned from flying them constantly.

I just flew J Class from Itami to Haneda on Wednesday, and it was nicer than any domestic flight here in the US. I usually fly ANA when flying within Japan because I have lounge access (it's easier to get ANA lounge access than JAL lounge access as a foreigner; ANA partners with lounge club programs us Americans can access with our US issued credit cards whereas JAL seems to focus on partnering with Japan issued credit cards), but I felt like JAL was better. I liked the plane interior more, that's for sure. It's only about ¥1500-¥2000 more than economy, so it's a no-brainer to upgrade for the extra space. I want to try Domestic First Class next time (hopefully ITM to CTS, or HND to ISG for a longer flight experience). I found that domestic Japanese flights are way cheaper to comparable US domestic tickets, especially when booking directly through the airline website. I saw a few First Class tickets (KIX to HND) for only $120/¥18,000.

Just came back on China Airlines. Their seats are ok and the legroom is fair longer than any other airline. The problem is you really pay for the economy class of food. It is tasteless, no salt and pepper provided, plastic cutleries, no dessert but one cookie, no salad. Basic Chinese food with no other choices. I suppose we get what we pay for.
@WanderVoyager7 ай бұрын
The seat itself was just ok, but it’s way too outdated. Compared to the major airlines like Singapore Airlines, Cathay or the middle eastern airlines, it lacks of the other condiments and desserts or salad. The taste was just fine, but it never worth to pay a lot for this unless you don’t have any other options.

Your comment is distorted and uninformed. China Airlines and Cathay Pacific together operates a great catering service out of the Taipei base, but they cheapen out and use lousy catering at outstations. Flights leaving TPE has good food and going back to TPE has crappy food. The only exception to that rule is when the flights leave any of the Japanese cities and Hong Kong, in both cases, they are heavily involved in the outstation catering company. China Airlines also provides dessert with econ meals - usually packaged item. They use an approach of joint-development and co-marketing on deserts and beverages. They are currently partnering with WooTEA, and the desert is AWESOME and the beverages are also great. This started when Starlux elevated the meal, so China Airlines made this change. China Airlines also rotate through the desert and beverages, so it doesn't get boring for frequent flyers. Yes, they use plastic utensils but it's very heavy duty and you can eat well with it. I actually hate the new bamboo utensils that many woke airlines use. Besides food and beverage, their hard products are full of issues and aren't that great.
