All of these high-rise apartments are now biting the owners who can no longer pay the service charge. A failed concept with no solution but yet hundreds more planned.

how could you even begin to think abot demolishing something like this, I mean when the classic burned down in Fitzalan Square it was an accident my mam and aunties cried they worked there since the late 50s, but this place was demolished.. criminal

What a joke. Sheffield City Council chopped down thousands of healthy trees for no valid reason. What they are good at doing is making seriously bad decisions for the entire population.

i live city center & it's far better than 10 years ago. It's getting more modern which is why some don't like it prefer to live with memories of past. Times change & needs to be given a chance once works done. People saying no shops..What do they want to buy?

Yeh true! I think there’s more coming on the top of the moor area
@Joe_Pomona
@Joe_Pomona 19 күн бұрын
The thing that is ruining the moor is the sheer volume of the crappy buskers, all amped up, all competing over one another and hardly any of them have any skill or ability. The only ones that have any skills are the few that don't use amps - the sax, the violinist, the few guitar players. But these guys get drowned out and pushed away by the morons with amps and the mental god botherers who scream and shout their sermons. It's got potential to be a nice chill street, but the council had to get rid of amplifier buskers.

@@SheffieldVideos I grew up in York, and there if you wanted to busk you needed a permit, and to get a permit you very literally had to go through an audition with the licensing authority - the council. If you were rubbish, they denied you a permit. If you were busking without one, you'd get prosecuted. It created a place filled with some of the BEST busking talent in the UK. Having moved to Sheffield 5 years ago, there are two things I miss from York... 1) a usable river like the River Ouse which is used for rowing/boating etc.. 2) quality buskers. Because with the exception of maybe 3 that I've seen on the moor, the majority are useless tone-deaf tik-tok wannabes who mistake excessive volume for talent. 😭😭 I live up Eccy road, I go to the gym on The Moor, but if I can avoid the place I now do so, purely because of the noise the buskers make. Even my dad, who lives 150 miles away, when im on the phone to him and passing up the moor, will say to me "you're on the moor aren't you!?" Because all he can hear on the phone is rubbish buskers.

Thank you for the video. Great video aswell. When I was born, we lived in the flats up on Bard Street, just up near here. My dad used to take me, my brother and sister down here all the time when we were babies and kids. I have also been on many many times since growing up to my adulthood too. For which I have taken my kids down here too. Either walking or on our bikes.

Hmm - it’s very bland with no sense of place. I’m not against modern architecture but this is drag n drop generic. Nothing says Sheffield. I can’t remember this particular area but I bet the old buildings could have been redeveloped rather than demolished and replaced with these bland blocks. I don’t think they’ll age well.

i know it's a year late, but why didn't you show the spider bridge? i'd say it's a lot more interesting than the walkway leading to the wicker, and it's not particularly known since it's so out the way for a pedestrian great vid though, been through the other 2 gennels mentioned on a walk at night and despite me never facing trouble, i'd never recommend it, too many shady characters

Sheffied city council has made accessing the city center so difficult for the local population nobody can get into it anymore. As a consequence the lack of commerce has decimated the shops. Now there is no reason to go into the city centre even if you could get in there. That and the Clean Air Zone a.k.a. Clean Air Tax has destroyed our city centre. Shame on you Sheffield City Councel , shame on you!!!!

Every Sheffield person has been down Black Swan Walk once, thinking it would bring them out near the Crucible and left cursing when they realised they'd only gone and made their journey longer. Limp effort, my friend. Obviously the graffiti vandals know these places. May I suggest you do some research to explain the origins of the places you claim to be 'hidden' from Sheffielders? Lady's Bridge, for example, of which the basic 15th Century load-bearing part is still intact, despite having had numerous structures built on top of it. Take a look underneath, it's quite well hidden from the road view though. Take care. Love and peace.

That big circle on the ground on Black Swan Lane is a concreted over turn table to turn carriages around. There is a handle on the wall to turn it, though obviously it doesn't work anymore due to being concreted over.
@disraelidemon

If you were there late on when it was empty, if you stood in one of the exits and clapped, the echo would go round the circle and come back to you on the other side.
