Nice way to *finish* PB is huge! Congratulations. Last Saturday had a local, regular for me, off road tough marathon. 4hrs 30mins. I was 31 from 130 runners. The difficulty of this excellent event is evident from the fact that only 9 runners under 4hrs. Winner 3hrs 44mins. April brings (injury/alien abduction not withstanding) a half, a 10k,London Marathon and my local favourite the North Dorset Village Marathon: all of these on road. Sincerely wish you well for the operation, a speedy recovery and no *unpleasant* surprises.

Bad timing but good you getting sorted. Whatever marathon you choose to do post op at least your base will be significantly better than starting from scratch and, as you say, if you can keep cardio ticking over you'll be ready to light the fire before you know it. All the best for the op and sure PBs galore await post op. 👍

@@beckettruns-gettingoutgett7189 IMHO. This is a great lesson for a marathon. Pacing! The second half (or last ⅓ whatever) having paced so well so as to be able to OVERTAKE others whose pacing isn't as *assured* as yours is a HUGE psychological as well as physical boost.

Well done! 100 is a real milestone for a month - great that it is also January new year, new milestones. I had my local road half last Sunday, first of year. Perfect weather - cool in shade and short sleeve tee when running. Undulating course on very quiet Dorset country roads: this event's thing is a *proper* hill on the last mile. Last 2k each about 30secs each slower than average, seems to go on for an age. Went as well /better than expected - 8th time I've run it. Tho my calves are aching/hurting more than usual! We VM65-69 old blokes feel it! Off road (50%)Portland Marathon next Sunday - treating it *merely* as a long run so as long as my calves are *ok* "I will survive hey, hey!". Happy running. Keep it up, you're doing fantastically.

Great work! The cold, the drizzle, the headlights! I'm not a great fan of off road! Partly my age.... tree roots, rabbit holes, low hanging branches etc.🤕 However I recommend them: usually more and more-difficult hills, usually no traffic(!) more *effort* required, often different muscles ache afterwards 😁 (I'm running - staggering - an off road full marathon next week after my road half this Sunday) Happy running.

Agreed, there are many "fads" which you can pick up online that will show very quick short term goals, I have never followed these and prefer to opt for balance & exercise with long term realistic goals rather than short term targets.

Thanks for the video. I went down from 22stone to 17ish at the moment I think you are spot on Re your thinking. I use my joy of running to fuel my motivation for loosing more fat/weight. As you say it gets easier with ever bit you loose. It's really easy to put it on but takes longer to loose. I think of it as a year plan, with a goal written down Keep up the videos. You deserve more views and I hope you get them

Hey man that's a great achievement. I definitely agree, setting long terms goals is far more beneficial that looking at short term results as this can from time to time be disheartening, especially if you have had a bad day/week. Good luck with your continued weight loss and i'm glad that your enjoying the channel.

My advice from personal experience: 1. permanent weight loss is all about what you put in your mouth, very little to do with what exercise you do; 2. Carbs are your enemy, remove them from your diet (all of them, including fruits and vegetables); 3. Eat foods 100% derived from animals only; 4. Do not count calories, eat as much as you need to feel comfortably full; 5. Watch the kgs just drop off effortlessly. Trust me, this works.
@beckettruns-gettingoutgett7189
@beckettruns-gettingoutgett7189 Жыл бұрын
Hi Alec, I appreciate you commenting, there are many ways in which different people can target weight loss. I am a firm believer that healthy balanced diet (I hate that word) combined with physical activity leads a healthier and slimmer version of yourself. I also believe that the activity itself, whatever it may be, helps those that may be suffering, whether that be mental health, anxiety or anything else. My methodology is to work on a calorie deficit while taking in a good balance of Protein, Fats and Carbs. The carbs are required to fuel the body for exercise. All of this said, i am not a qualified, Medical Professional, Nutritionalist or Physical Training Instructor, I am merely telling my story with the hope of helping others.
@Alecmcq
@Alecmcq Жыл бұрын
@@beckettruns-gettingoutgett7189 Good luck! I hope you are part of the 5% that makes the calorie counting strategy work. The reason why it usually doesn’t work long term is you need to keep your insulin low to be able to access your fat stores. If you are in any way insulin resistant (highly likely that you are), then eating carbs will result in prolonged high insulin which blocks fat burning, makes your tired, and long term reduces your base metabolic rate, which leads to long term weight rebound.
