4:04 This, 100%. I hear people all the time, talking about ETTL and many of them think I am being snobby when I say I intentionally DON’T buy anything with ETTL. I’m using the Yongnuo 560-IV. They are not ETTL, but they have built in receivers, so I only need a Yongnuo trigger on the camera. I don’t have to hook a transceiver to the flash.

Hi Dan thanks for the great video. Hey I've got a question for you. When I take a picture of my face directly with my phone camera I feel it's not the same as when I see myself in the mirror. But when I take a picture of my reflection of a mirror with the same camera I look a lot better. So my question to you is: Since DSLR takes pictures reflected onto its internal mirror do faces look better versus a mirrorless camera?
@DanCantero25 күн бұрын
Hey! Great question. Actually there’s no difference between the images from a dslr and a mirrorless camera n that respect. Most phone cameras are a wide angle camera and not flattering when used close to the face. What you’re seeing is probably a small barreling effect caused by the lens.
@DanCantero25 күн бұрын
Just to add to that. The reason it looks better when you shoot into a mirror is because you are essentially doubling the distance from the camera to your face. This is why it looks better. Hope that helps.

Thank You for your valuable help with this information. Problem 1. I have had some difficulty using Strobes that use E26 Modeling bulbs while using Color Gels inside Softboxes. My original solution was to just shoot the strobe with a basic reflector with Barn Doors with a Gel holder behind a Diffusion Scrim. Solution to Problem 1. I carefully developed and modified the Bowens mount speed rings for Softboxes with internal female Bowens mount adapters that allows me to install color gels extended beyond the E26 Bulb Modeling lights inside Square or Octagon Softboxes. Problem 2. Since 99% of the Flash / Speedlights don't have built in modeling lights..., the rest I really don't have to explain. No modeling, Less control and harder to get my Cameras Autofocus to work properly. Solution to problem 2. ? Maybe ? Installing an LED light source inside a softbox as the modeling light that is strong enough to illuminate a subject that is at the most, 5 - 6 feet away with the speedlight as the primary light source? If the LED is too expensive at the distance, I'll have to absolutely consider moving the Softbox closer. After Test shooting, Ring lights are just not strong enough. You feed back would really be appreciated. What do you think?

The reason I jumped to a mirrorless camera for headshots was to allow me to direct my subjects without having to bring the camera to my eye, as I've found that people's fleeting postures and expressions can go away or stiffen by the time I do. So with the brilliant eye autofocus of my Nikon Z8 I can put it on a tripod, interact freely with my subject, and hit the remote when I see something I love. I never thought I'd replace my D850, and still prefer the files from that camera, but the new system has been great and worked as I had hoped it would.

This is an amazing video for those of us who don't know anything about photography! My little sister wants to become a photographer and has been talking about it for years now, so I decided to get her her first camera. I got a Sony Alpha a6100 for her birthday next week and I will present it to her exactly the way you did. I won't say "here's a beginner camera for you to play with", I'll present it to her as something she could start earning money from if she works hard enough. Thanks for this, needed it!

Ummm the question is how does it look on the camera screen. Every camera manufacturer provides specifications on how exactly to read the raw file data, there is no guesswork going on. While most differences i could explain with default progrm settings to be accidentaly off mark but higher detail from same file? and sudden skin smoothing? That is bloody deliberate. They willingly and knowingly „enhance” the image under the hood. My strong suspicion would be that the pictures on the camera screen will look more like lightroom result

Won't pay for software yet you buy overpriced "Tether tools" cable -NO live view ?? just use the camera makers own software - simple

I only mentioned the cable because I’ve found it to be the number 1 culprit when troubleshooting. But, like I said in the video you can you any cable you have and see if it works.

Hi mate. Can you tether from camera to ipad via evoto? Or is it only to laptop/desktop?
@DanCantero3 ай бұрын
Hey Scott. Not at this time. It would be great if they came out as an app for an iPad. It's still a relatively new product when compared to LR and C1 so I wouldn't be surprised if we see that in the future. The only stable solution that I know of to shoot tethered to and iPad is to use Capture pilot (You still need capture 1 running on a laptop). I think you can also do it with a Camranger. I've also see one called Arsenal I think but don't really know much about it.

In this video I am going to show you how you can use a polarizer filter to take your photography to the next level! A polarizer filter is essential for getting the most out of your photography. It allows you to get rid of all of the unwanted polarized light that can sometimes make your photographs dull and lifeless. In fact, a polarizer is one of the biggest secrets that professional photographers use to make their photographs stand out from others. By reducing glare and reflections from surfaces like water, glass, and even foliage, a polarizer can help you capture vibrant, richly colored images with deeper contrast. This is particularly useful for landscape photography, where managing reflections and enhancing the colors of the sky and foliage can dramatically improve your shots. In this video, I'll guide you through the science behind polarizers, how they work, and the best scenarios to use them. Whether you're shooting in bright sunlight, near reflective surfaces, or aiming to bring out the vivid blues in the sky, understanding how to use a polarizer effectively will transform your photography. Watch till the end for tips on choosing the right polarizer for your camera and how to properly adjust it to achieve the best results.
