Great. Tick the box. Sounds good and reduce the fleet. Short of Engineers but will that matter. ? Same 3 Typhoons daily on the line to reduce hours. Long deployments for the families so divorce is high. Married quarters still poor.

Spanish City to me: 1980s was the Ghost Train and the Roller Coaster, 1990s was the boy racers who used to zip along the front every weekend, 2000's was the Hairy Lemon and 42nd Street, 2010's was the Fire Station... and this year I got a bag of chips from the newly developed 'Spanish City' and paid £15 for fish and chips. A long way from "going crazy on the waltzers".

@@garyfox8701 well I cannot give you that. But I can tell you it was clearly on its last legs. No one was in the fair ground (other than me and my sister) and it was the school holidays

I'm pleased the building was saved. I attended for 2 or 3 years before leaving Fort William in 1969. It looks like the gym was demolished? I think the headmaster back then was McIntyre?

It's really wonderful that the building has been brought back to life after seeing looking so sad for many years. I wondered if any records still exist from the Victorian period when it's likely my family went to the school?

It'll be interesting to see if this brings the thousands of holiday makers who used to visit Whitley for the Amusements, the beach and the banging nightlife back..... I doubt it, but that's OK the residents/council have what they wanted a quiet peaceful sleepy town that no one visits for longer than a day.

What happen to the cavern club????

It was filled in when the area was developed.

A mall was built right over the cavern. The mall developer needed to build pour cement in the cavern area to re-inforce the foundation of the mall and demolished the cavern. But, the original bricks from the Cavern Club were saved and used to build another cavern club across the way from the original location. Here is a link of the inside of the current version of the Cavern Club. www.google.com/maps/place/Cavern+Pub/@53.406376,-2.9881689,3a,75y,90t/data=!3m8!1e5!3m6!1sAF1QipPY69LaMBI3H1jGd3jrmenxXiy7gEYCLenfxCuR!2e10!3e10!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipPY69LaMBI3H1jGd3jrmenxXiy7gEYCLenfxCuR%3Dw529-h298-k-no!7i1920!8i1080!4m14!1m6!3m5!1s0x487b212e349cd1c9:0x3b50330ca98cf538!2sCavern+Club!8m2!3d53.4063747!4d-2.9879859!3m6!1s0x487b212e31454f35:0xa28a06b1ab513139!8m2!3d53.406376!4d-2.9881689!14m1!1BCgIgARICCAQ?hl=en

Quite unlike what I saw when I visited the distillery in June 1994 for a rather extensive look into operations there. In addition to meeting many of the wonderful people working there to gain a better understanding of what made The Macallan such a great spirit, we were treated to a beautifully prepared haggis in Easter Ellchies House. As I watched this video I couldn’t help but wonder what Willie Phillips thinks about these massive additions.
