Way too many steps! You could have just marked the kayak with the actual hatch. If you just cut outside the drawn circle there is no need to file the hole. For anyone watching that doesn't understand how he's cutting sideways, there is a directional knob on top of the jigsaw. All that measuring was useless... you dremeled out the line that you should have just cut off. Putting dots was more wasted time. Just drill one hole, set the screw and continue. Wing nuts? Should have used lock nuts or at least lock walkers. It's going to leak. At least you put the hatch opening facing the paddler!

Thanks for showing that what I’m hoping to do on my Malibu Two is indeed possible, just have to be precise. The lip on the elevated section was a little concerning until now. Any issues or lessons learned since you’ve added this?

Do you regret not doing a 8 inch hatch instead. Not sure if I want to do a 6 inch or 8 inch storage.

Do you remember the size of the screws you used? I have the exact same kayak and hatch and would like to get everything I need before I cut open the hole.

I like the idea of using the ss bolts instead of he screws. I think I use nylock and washer instead of the wing nut. thank again for the clear video, installing one now.

@harborskoolmaniac the 2nd hdd will act like an external hd. except it will be inside the mbp.

how do you play cps or dads, can you use the air superdrive?

what should i do? im getting a quad core i7 2.2 ghz macbook pro soon, and upgrading to 8 gb of ram. i want to get an ssd without sacrificing the hdd, as i need th extra space, but i need speed and power for cinema d, after effects, final cut, etc. However, i also want to occasionally game on it(black ops, mw2, cod 4,5, and 2) but this requires the disc drive. would it be a good idea to buy a cheap external hdd and install the game sto the computer so i never need to bring the discs with me?

you can get a optibay 'clone' off ebay from for like 10$ just put one into my mbp' last night.

Well I just did that and I got the gear. The only thing is that shipment adds about 50% to the price... Sometimes there a downside to being european. On the other side the dollar is going down agains the euro again :)
