I have a pair of Tacticals on the HNW last, smooth black with the composite toe. Other than the eight month wait, they're great. I was thinking about either Falcons or Americana with a cap toe (for a better version of an Redwing Iron Rangers) but ugh, that lead time (as well as the cost). That dogger heel is really sharp, too bad they don't offer that on their chelseas. I wouldn't cut the tongue; fold them over as they show you on the video and use the kilties.

Cypress is definitely a more casual leather with more character than CXL which is slightly corrected grain. Good luck with the Thunderdome

Looks great, if I could get my sizing right I’d get a pair just like that! Once you get used to the comfort of wider toes the look becomes better too because you begin to associate it with comfort vs tight uncomfortable toes. And these are pretty sleek for an anatomical shape. Also don’t cut the tongue!! Lol

I really don't like how Nicks can't manage to make the tongues out of the same leather as the rest of the upper. All they'd have to do is buy a splitter. And please don't cut the tongues haha

Maybe Cypress leather is a bad material for tongues or could just be a cost saving method? Also, yeah, I won't cut the tongues haha!

The thing that i like about the gro cord outsoles is aside from looking good they are more durable than roccia outsoles. I have a 2014 beckman and a 2018 sheldon that had their roccia outsoles disintegrate, while my 2016 girards with gro cord are still going strong. Will be going to Tokyo in 3 weeks so i am hoping that they have my size in the beckman 9060s. BTW did you get the same size in beckman 9060 as your iron ranger 8083s?

Great unboxing and review. I love the way this bag looks, and it seems to have solid utility. The one thing I question is the fussy main comparent closures, although that's offset somewhat by the brilliant zippered pocket. As you mentioned, that pocket makes it well suited to holding secure documents such as a passport, etc.

Great video, thank you! Fwiw, I have a pair of Viberg 2030s in Horween’s Saddletan Chromepak. They have tons of loose grain 8:57, which really surprised me. I have abused those boots, like no other pair I've every owned, so maybe that's just "par for the course". That said, I couldn't love those boots more! Cheers

Thank you so much for this video, this has cleared up most of my mirror shining frustrations I have experienced. IMOP he is spot on, the same thing happened to me with the cracking. It left me scratching my head because I never had this happen before however, I never conditioned my shoes before (Lack of knowledge/military boots). Out of 5 pairs of AE shoes and a pair of Amberjacks, it happened to 3 of them and for some reason it was mainly the 2x AE cap toes and 1x Amberjack. Kirby Allison's staff told me it was because the quality of AE has diminished over the years however, I didn't think' this this sounded right because the quality of the leather is much higher on the AEs, than my military boots I used to mirror shine without any issues and this was using Kiwi not Saphir Pate De Luxe, that I use on my current dress shoes. When I did use the Renovateur, I would do one coat, wait 20-30 min and brush off, and then another coat and let sit overnight and then brush off and go into the actual polishing. They didn't crack until wearing them a full day. I just ordered the Nappa and will only use that from here on out with new shoes. I am sure that Renovateur is good stuff but I doubt it is any better than Nappa on New Shoes, especially when you are going to then use the Saphir Pommadier cream and Pate De Luxe. IMOP the Renovateur would be better suited for bringing older shoes back to life, don't waste your money if using on new shoes. Thanks again

I picked up the 25l and I’m liking it but concur with you on the pockets. I use the front pocket for a water bottle so Im not worried about people stealing that but I do wish it was a bit more secured. The build quality of the bad is great though, much better than other heritage brands for the price(Bradley Mountain, Filson, ect).

Hey man loved the video! I work for redwing and I definitely agree the flat waxed laces suck, we the blacksmith comes with those laces to and I always give the customer an extra set of laces. I think lacing boots tight is a military thing (US Army) because I did the same thing and snapped the laces within a few days. I saw a comment where someone said the midsole is “cardboard” but it’s definitely a piece of full grain leather. Whenever I went to resole mine I took the old midsole and cut it in half and I could see grain structure. The midsole is sanded down near the for foot to allow for better adhesion to the rubber midsole, if you were to glue a rubber midsole to a full grain leather without sanding it wouldn’t adhere as well. I’ve had my 9060s for 3 years now. they’re the only thing I wear and I love them.

I got a pair of 403 CXL and I like them a lot but I know what they are a casual boot not a rugged boot . They are now over priced and Harrison Ford must have been a furniture carpenter because if he was building houses or real work they would probably last 3 months or less . I did concrete foundation work for 5 years and these will not hold up to doing real work or rugged conditions like a pair of Redwing 606 for instance . I think the Alden Indy is a very good casual boot and you can do things like light hiking and motorcycle riding and stuff like that but your not going to ride dirt bikes or hike the Appalachian trail or anything like that .

CXL other choices, besides VSC, Saphir's Greasy Leather (in neutral or brown for scuffs) it has neats oil in it. Also Saphir offers a higher end SAPHIR Medaille d’Or Oiled Leather Cream which also has neatsfoot and adds apricot oil and a tiny bit of wax for a bit of satin shine to your Chromexcel boots.

Trickers are the best boots a man can buy in this price point, I've got 3 pairs of Trickers Henry in blue suede, with commando soles, 30 years old Tan, originally leather soles, replaced with Dainite, more comfortable, and the latest addition bought at the factory shop sale on Monday, Kudos brown rough out suede or as Trickers call it, reverse suede, i normally take a 9 Trickers last on the Henry is different to the last on my Burford and Stow, 10 out of ten for Trickers by me. I'm in Northamptonshire borders, Trickers is 20 miles from me, I've had a factory tour, they are made to exacting standards, the tiniest blemishes they go straight to factory shop
