Hey man loved the video! I work for redwing and I definitely agree the flat waxed laces suck, we the blacksmith comes with those laces to and I always give the customer an extra set of laces. I think lacing boots tight is a military thing (US Army) because I did the same thing and snapped the laces within a few days. I saw a comment where someone said the midsole is “cardboard” but it’s definitely a piece of full grain leather. Whenever I went to resole mine I took the old midsole and cut it in half and I could see grain structure. The midsole is sanded down near the for foot to allow for better adhesion to the rubber midsole, if you were to glue a rubber midsole to a full grain leather without sanding it wouldn’t adhere as well. I’ve had my 9060s for 3 years now. they’re the only thing I wear and I love them.

Been wearing my blacksmiths with the original waxed laces for about three years now about 2-3 days a week. They are my faves. Looking at a pair of Beckman in black cherry real soon. Great video, thanks for sharing.

My Red Wing flat laces also broke , maybe because it is made of cotton. I switched to nylon flat laces instead. Often taslan laces for work & adventure. Boot should fit snug without slop & heel slip , preventing blister. Red Wing heel counter is not as conforming , that's why it can cause blister to some people , especially during break-in.

Loose grain normally happens when the loose parts of the hide are used, like the belly. It is not necessarily weaker, but it is softer. I had a pair of boots where the left shoe was loose grain and right tight grain. That looks much worse, it looks like they were made from different hides.

Great video, thank you! Fwiw, I have a pair of Viberg 2030s in Horween’s Saddletan Chromepak. They have tons of loose grain 8:57, which really surprised me. I have abused those boots, like no other pair I've every owned, so maybe that's just "par for the course". That said, I couldn't love those boots more! Cheers

The thing that i like about the gro cord outsoles is aside from looking good they are more durable than roccia outsoles. I have a 2014 beckman and a 2018 sheldon that had their roccia outsoles disintegrate, while my 2016 girards with gro cord are still going strong. Will be going to Tokyo in 3 weeks so i am hoping that they have my size in the beckman 9060s. BTW did you get the same size in beckman 9060 as your iron ranger 8083s?

3:39 I believe they are fibreboard midsoles. There are a couple re-craft videos of the Beckman on KZbin and the midsole is cardboard, as is the heel rand.

Damn I didn't know that!! Thanks tor the info

Not true
@HGQjazz5 ай бұрын
@@ivanska3099 It depends on what you consider the midsole I guess. But there is definitely a layer of fibreboard in the midsole. I guess technically the outsole is leather with a rubber sole protector. Still the midsole is cardboard. There are plenty of cobblers on youtube that have verified it. Heel rand is also cardboard.

Great!!! they are perfect!! I ask you for advice, it is better to use your product immediately to nourish the skin. or should I use them for a few months first? Thank you
@Kudusole7 ай бұрын
@CarmeV46 good to hear! I would say given they are not too old stocks and weren't sitting on the shelf for a long time, also the leather is oiled. Therefore wear them for a bit and treat them when needed!

I have both these boots. Don't love the shape of my 9060s. The boot isn't made for my foot. Both super cool though.

Great video, thank you!! Most boots i end up replacing my laces with paracord. It is stronger and more reliable then regular laces. Also i like my laces lomger then most supply anyways. To be able to tie around my ankles. Like you i like a firm tight fit. As well i usually carry paracord with me for whatever need i may have. In the off chance i break a lace i have extra. Good luck in the contest!! Cheers, beers and whiskey 🤠 🥃
