Different Hoya species smell different. Some are like butterscotch and some are sweet but boozy, like vanilla extract. A few smell "floral", like a perfume blend or granny's powder makeup. Some smell like faintly like of fruity chocolate.

Don't ever give info out like that. What doesn't bite you now can later. Don't trust ANYONE. Not USPS, NOT SOCIAL SECURITY(SSA) ETC. All places like that have been hacked. If someone from SSA calls you and says "you go on line and get SSAs phone # from internet and call me back so I can prove who Ihe is? " IT'S A SCAM!!! USPS - NEVER GIVE ANY INFO EVER. PLEASE. FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY!!!

Hi! Nice video 🙌🏻 One question, is it possible that corms grow(“develop”) from de mother plant in pon? As if they were growing in soil?

Thanks! And yes they do all the time. Almost all of my Alocasias have pupped in semi-hydro

🤔 Very beautiful hostess. Clearly knowledgeable and passionate about your hobby. In the long run it’s better for a multitude of ways to make your own Pon. I utilize Calcined Clay and “ Special Kitty “ natural clay cat litter in my home made Pon. The two clays give a number of nutrients and have a excellent water holding and wicking capacity. I wish you success with your KZbin endeavors and your hobby. ✊🏽✊🏿✊🏾

I got my first alocasia a few months ago and I’m still learning they seem to be way fussyer compared to most other plants I have . It took about 2 months of sitting with one leaf then one day it started to grow .when I got 3 big leaves a week ago I repotted it and now it’s sad looking.but I will keep trying lol

These are some great tips. I've always wanted an alocasia, but I've been scared to try even though I've got a pretty green thumb and like 30 house plants already. I just picked up a small I think alocasia polly or amazonica from Home Depot yesterday. So excited to see it grow bigger.

Ty so much for this. I have been trying to find specifics. I find a lot of vanity plant posts (no shame, I love that too) when searching for guides. This is what I needed.

I super appreciate your knowledge and how you convey that information! I am on the verge of converting several plants. I have two semi Hydro and have been afraid because I have so much invested.
@hennesseyme91122 ай бұрын
Wow! I killed two of those! Another channel said to pull the tree out of the soil and remove the rubber band. The problem I had was the plants growing out of the braid into a thin straight trunk. They are not very easy to grow and they grow slowly.

The Anthurium plant is hands down my favorite and they actually are the best for living in Ohio. I have 4 queens and so far they’ve been very easy to take care of <knock on wood >. Thank you for sharing this video it was very beneficial!

I am going to suggest potato water . I had some left over some roasted type of potates . I cut the skin off and cut it up an put it into a spray bottle. The potatoes need to set in the water for at least 48hrs. Then if your plant is dry water with the potato water. Also spray the potato water on your leaves . Take a cloth or paper towel , or some gauze and saturate it with your potato water and bath your leaves top and bottom . Within a few weeks your Anthurium leaves will begin to grow "crazy". I'm waiting for it to blossom, which I believe it will soon !!

DO NOT touch the bio stratum with your bare hands. I did that and had a horrible dizzy spell for almost two days. The regular one was fine. That stuff is gold for monsteras and corms.

Is yellowing on the tip of leaves normal for semi hydro shock ? It’s in perlite/stratum … do you think it’s cal/mag deficiency? I just put super thrive in there but it’s doesn’t contain cal/mag
@PlantsNTings3 ай бұрын
It’s hard to say..I’d say make one change at a time and give it about 1-2 weeks to see if it makes a difference before trying something else.

Can you describe the leca water system. Is this considered growing in water fully with water roots?
@PlantsNTings3 ай бұрын
It’s considered semi hydro or semi water because of the leca. Because the leca creates air pockets it’s not fully water rooting. You will have roots grow down into the water reserve and those roots are more suited for water.

Something else with moss, that I think gets ignored or forgotten, is that it’s not the rule in nature! It’s an exception, if a tree has moss, lichen, etc. growing on it. That’s just nature, and really, it’s down to chance or fate, or karma, whatever… like who knows where and if the moss spores will land somewhere and form a bed for other plants. It’s pure luck if spores landed on a branch and grew mature enough to cover it. But if you look on Google for “aroids in nature” or “wild aroids”, you’re not seeing moss COVERING every inch of every tree! And it’s not going to be wet, like constantly, either… even in the jungle. Yet some channels freak out about keeping the pole moist at all times..! Tbh, it doesn’t work for me in my experience to keep poles moist! More than that, I can say that my most wet poles were the ones my plants never rooted to. Even basic heart leaf philodendron! To this day never stuck to that pole and has become a hanging basket! 😂 The root tips on most vines, succulents too, are sticky for a reason…to stick. Moist repels adherence, in most cases. Lol, hence why people have pothos inside their homes that vine all around the ceiling with no help. And I’m not misting the inside of my house or the walls. Haha. I like your coco chips method, as well as planks, and even pvc pipes and wooden beams. With no moss. The vines readily root to pvc, plastic, painted walls, boards, trees, etc, so much better than moss poles. I actually left a ‘Marble Queen’ Epipremnum on the shaded patio (I live in San Diego) and basically forgot about it.. watered weekly. But now it’s grown much longer and has rooted to the actual table it’s on. Which is old,chipping white paint and rickety… but it’s not moist. It has texture, crevices, and the root nodes pick up the fog and marine layer at night for moisture, besides me watering the root ball. So that just shows you!
