Great instructional video. One suggestion is to wrap electrical tape around the shaft of your socket wrench in case it gets dropped while tightening.
@alanmainwaring1830Ай бұрын
I am confused by this for example for a 48V system you would need 16 3.2 V cells in series. Surely a BMS system will need a pair of wires going to each cell to monitor each cell and control charge and set voltage to each cell.. In the video I dont see a wiring loom that does this. Can someone clarify this for me.

Can you make jk bms to be able to do remote monitoring ? Using uart and esp32 with lan or similar ?
@jacobcarlson4010Ай бұрын
Okay. To even attempt to answer this, we’ll need more information; for now, we’ll assume that it’ll only be one battery pack/one BMS that needs to be managed. How familiar are you with the differences between RS485 and CANBus? How far away from the house will be the battery pack(s) that you want to monitor? Are you aiming to integrate it into a smart home system like HomeAssistant?

I have an APC 3000va UPS. I purchased a Daly brand, 15s 150 amp Smart BMS and created a 48-volt LifePo4 battery pack. However, I'm encountering an issue. Normally, the BMS's B- should be connected to the battery, and the P- should be connected to the UPS. But when connected this way, if the city power is cut, the device automatically shuts down. After it shuts down, if I press the button, it turns back on and continues to operate on battery mode. If the power is cut again, the UPS shuts down once more. There's no problem with charging the batteries when the city power is available. When I connect the B- to the UPS and the P- to the battery, as long as the battery is charged, it automatically switches to the battery when the city power goes out. However, in this setup, it does not charge the batteries and even discharges them while the grid is active. So, the UPS is functioning correctly, but it does not charge the batteries. Additionally, there's another odd thing. If I use another BMS from Daly that is not a Smart model, I encounter the same problem; however, if I reverse the connections-connecting B- to the UPS and P- to the battery-the system operates normally and charges the batteries. Can someone please help about this problem

If two cells are connected in parallel then both cells reach the same state of charge. One 4 cell BMS can certainly be used for a 4s2p battery system. When there were no primatic cells yet, many round cells were connected in parallel. These were often used cells with different capacities and different internal resistance. It was just ensured that the parallel pack had approximately the same capacity. Then the p-packs were connected in series and and connected to a BMS. That worked very well back then. But the lithium batteries back then were not as safe as today's LFP batteries.
@jensschroder82143 ай бұрын
It is good practice to balance the cells at the top first. This gives the maximum capacity of the battery. With grade A cells, a difference of 1mV can be achieved without a aktive balancer.

Hi. I think you are bit wrong with daly bms, it goes automatically back to charge mos on when voltage goes bit down. I using jk and daly bms already more than year for 48v system and they both work fully automatically for over voltage and under voltage, over current etc. I just check them to see how batteries doing that is it. No manual reset or something else. Just i have one problem with daly bms, few days ago current was almost on the limit of bms and cooling fan kicked in for daly bms and now it newer stops, keeps going, i did reboot, then i turned off and nothing changed, every time when bms boots up it starts running fan on full speed. So i don’t know or it’s software bug, or something went wrong.. but for the rest it’s perfect bms, just cheaper than jk 🤪

Sorry to say, but one important value is set to bullshit. 'Start Balancing Voltage' you set to 3.2V. At 3.2V the BMS has no clue about the real SoC Value and will tend to make the Balancing even worse! It is widely agreed upon in the community that this value should be at least 3.4, better 3.43...3.45 V. Why? Only above 3.4V the voltage does mean anything in terms of SoC. You are right, the voltage tends to rise quickly if you charge agressively. Put your charge voltage to 3.45 x cellcount and you are fine to go! If the first cell exceeds 3.45V the Balancing will kick in and to the rest while the battery is still mildly charging, but with very low current the balancer can handle. Slight voltage differences above 3.4V don't mean a lot either in terms of SoC. If you have 10mV difference when cells are above 3.45V that means we are talking of less than 0.005C - 0.5% of capacity. But you know at 3.45V at low current the cell is 99.9% full or even more (depending on the actual current).

3.2V can be used only during initial top balancing with BMS, later on it should be changed as you wrote

When you scan for a BMS through the mobile app, you simply choose which BMS that you would like to log into. The mobile app doesn’t allow you to be logged into 2 separate BMS’s simultaneously.

Hello Ernest, this is really wonderful. Everything is meticulously detailed. I was able to initialize my 2 JKBMS JK-B2A8S-20PC with my 2 12V 280 Amp battery packs, it's great. There is just one small detail, in addition to the Bluetooth on my phone I also have the control screen. (The large model). The batteries are fully charged, but it only shows 78 percent charge. Perhaps this is normal and we will have to wait for the cycles to complete and for the battery and settings to gradually improve. If you could reassure me on this point that would be great. Many thanks again for your video, it’s great. Dominic
