People who live in Washington state don't have an accent at all. I should know I myself am a citizen of Washington state. I've lived in Washington State for the past 15 years and have never heard anyone with an accent.

Conde Nast should be embarrassed by how they did Louisiana in this video. Louisiana has at least two accents (Cajun and New Orleans) that are unique to the world, and they just lumped us in with the generic Southern?

I wanted to hear people with the actual accent. Not the urban borg attempting to imitate it.

*laughs in eastern WV native* “Fire” and “far” trip me up if I’m not careful. Also spent some time in western MD, so a *veeeeery* slight overlap lol

Maryland got about three seconds of screen time, with a lady saying we don't have accents here. lol. Parts lf Maryland sure do, like Baltimore, especially with certain words. "BALL-mer" (Baltimore), "MURRA-lehn" (Maryland), "downy ocean" (down to the ocean, meaning the beaches on the Eastern Shore), "hon" (hun), "WUD-der" (water), "OHL" (oil), etc.

I’ll agree with the “if it’s not southern, it just sounds American” but with Mass, NH, and Maine, you can’t tell me “Lawbstah Chowdah fer suppah” isn’t an accent 😂😂

The linguistics student in me is really peeved about all the people with (although mildly so at times) distinct accents going "oh we don't have an accent!" You do. There is no such thing as no accent. There is no such thing as a default accent. Every single person has an accent.
