I bought a used 22MYP this December and FSD aside, I absolutely love the car. My previous car was a 13 Chevy Cruze and the upgrade has been fantastic. I currently have the trial 13.4.2 and it has been hit or miss for me. If I’m trying to do town/city driving it’s not good (not confident in turns). However, the interstate is where it shines the most. Other than always wanting to stay in the far left lane even though i have Autopilot set on chill. Still trying to figure out the best settings and speed so I’m not making anyone mad on the road.

Wow on fsd hw3. It drives as good on city streets as hw4. The hype for hw4 is to make sales which is good because the stock price is high. I still think when the new Y hits the sales room there will be bargains on model 3, hw4.

@@pennyharris446 yeah! The hype about V13 is way overdone. I’ll be doing a TRUE comparison later this month and will reveal it to everyone.

To be fair V13 gets rid of the jerky wheel, adds start/end of drive functionality with on the fly reversing capabilities. I feel like the smoothness comes from the 36 hz processing rate. I recall when they improved the color processing on the repeater cameras, Elon said, team thought more was achievable. I wonder if they could do the same for front facing cameras.
@techgeekteslaКүн бұрын
@ yea, V13 is next level. No denying that. I still think v12 runs great on HW3 though. It’s not every turn or maneuver, for example, where the steering wheel is jerky. I’d say it’s only jerky 5% of the time.

@@erwingiger9735 precisely! Great observation. Which proved the point (to me) that the human eye is still better than the cameras. If the 4K camera in my car couldn’t see (show) the light, the FSD cameras definitely couldn’t see them before me.

@techgeektesla3 күн бұрын
@@brokenneck so true. The Tesla team has been playing around w/ the NN weights to execute turns earlier for a very long time. My guess is that it’s a combination of a ton of weights that determines how early it begins to move over. The worst is when it changes lanes AWAY from the lane you’re supposed to be turning into for an upcoming turn.

This whining "FSD may be degraded" parade of nags has got to become the focus of some serious upgrades. @Tesla prides themselves on excellent engineering and I concur. Now direct that magnificent engineering prowess at making the cameras never-ever have to be inadequate "One or more side <fill in the blank> cameras may be occluded" cease to be a thing or it will _never_ be fully trusted. That's my 2¢.

I kind of assume that rendering items on the screen is lower priority than reacting to them so I’m not sure you can assume that the car doesn’t “see” things before you… My experience is that the car frequently reacts to things before I see them.

The visualization delay could be due to the confidence level of the AI. Even if the cameras can "see" the lights at the same distance, the fog could be reducing the confidence, thus they're not being displayed. It's possible the car would still react appropriately (which is why you asked about what happens at 80mph, of course).
@stephenmiller66904 күн бұрын
You raise a question i have had for a while. Is the delay between the human eye seeing the object and it showing in the FSD visualization really the human eye seeing farther? Or is it that the visualization only displays so far ahead in distance? For example in low light like just before sunrise a camera or binoculars see much better than the human eye. My hunch is that the Tesla cameras are better than my eyes. Another good video. 4:18

I have FSD V13.2.1 and FSD is getting so good at normal driving tasks that most of these channels are getting to be rather boring. I'm glad to see vids like this that safely try to find the limits. I don't recall seeing any flashing blue screen warnings or anything at all unsafe in your driving. It would be nice to know more about what the screen render shows, when it shows it and why. The delay in displaying things that the eye can see is interesting.

Still being at 12.5.4.2, looks like you have a HW3 car. I wonder how 13.2.1 behaves under these conditions. I doubt Tesla has trained them for winter driving yet. My HW3 with 12.3 last spring took the highway (so V11) off ramp exit at its regular spot instead of following the snow ruts. I had to intervene otherwise I would have ended in the ditch. I doubt V12.6 will be any different. My (limited) experience with 12.3 on snowy city road was different than yours. I got no 'Takes over immediately" that I recall.
