Dear Ninja: at 3:40 in this video, you say you are defining initial conditions for the Copper. But you define velocity vectors (u, v, w) which doesn't make sense for a solid. What am I missing? Thank you.

I am running a 2D transient simulation(VOF Fluent) in which vapor bubbles are generated at the bottom surface of a rectangular domain that is initially full of water with heat flux given at the bottom wall. I was trying to patch a single vapor bubble by creating a hemispherical region. I can see my volume fraction contour with the bubble after patching a hemispherical region at the bottom of the liquid. The simulation is also running perfectly when I click on "Run Calculation". When I do this same bubble patch operation through a DEFINE_INIT UDF, I can see the bubble getting patched in the vapor phase contour, but the calculation is not running. It is giving the following error in the 1st iteration itself. Divergence detected in AMG solver: vof-1 Divergence detected in AMG solver: x-momentum Divergence detected in AMG solver: y-momentum Divergence detected in AMG solver: pressure correction Divergence detected in AMG solver: pressure correction Divergence detected in AMG solver: temperature UDF code #include "udf.h" DEFINE_INIT (init2, domain1) { Message("solution initialised"); cell_t cell; Thread *cell_thread; Domain *subdomain; int phase_domain_index; //Initialisation of heater layer sub_domain_loop(subdomain, domain1, phase_domain_index) { if(DOMAIN_ID(subdomain) == 2) { thread_loop_c (cell_thread,subdomain) { begin_c_loop_all (cell,cell_thread) { real arr[ND_ND]; C_CENTROID(arr,cell,cell_thread); if (sqrt(ND_SUM(pow(arr[0],2),pow(arr[1],2), pow(arr[2],2)))<=0.00000002) { C_VOF (cell, cell_thread) = 0. ; C_P(cell, cell_thread)= 5846400; } else { C_VOF (cell, cell_thread) = 1. ; } } end_c_loop_all (cell,cell_thread); } } } } When I am running the calculation I am getting this error, but there is no error when I am patching it without udf by creating a region. I want this patching operation to be done via udf, so I can generate new bubbles after every time step in a specific pattern. (I will be using EXECUTE_AT_END for that ). I would be grateful if you can help me sir.

Thanks for the video! This made it much clearer. mass^2*length^0*time^-2*temperature^0*quantity^0*current^0*luminosity_intensity^0 is how the unit is formed * What a difficult way to say this for p .. so instead of saying that that the unit is m^2/s^2 but because it's hard to write parser for that the formula is done so that you just need to give exponents for mass exponent is 1 (reduces in the formula to 1) so it's mass*length*time*temperature*quantity*current*luminosity intensity and then.. from that string you pick the exponents. mass^2*length^0*time^-2*temperature^0*quantity^0*current^0*luminosity_intensity^0 Clever but I wonder why in the file there isn't a comment line just saying this :D Oh well.

At the boundary between the bodies in this solution there is instantaneous heat transfer, which is impossible in reality. To calculate heat transfer between solids, it is necessary to introduce a heat transfer coefficient [Wm-2K-1], which depends on the surface roughness, material, temperature, but can be found in the literature. The question is where to enter this coefficient in Ansys Fluent. The only coefficient that has the same dimension is convection on the wall, and this is completely different.

@sramkumar32254 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for these detailed videos. I need some guidance from you. I am trying to find a laptop which suits my requirements. I usually use ICEMCFD for meshing, Tecplot 360 for flow visualization and MATLAB for plotting. I do not intend to run any CFD simulation, viz. ANSYS Fluent in my laptop. My laptop would hence be for the pre and post processing mostly. I would mainly be visualizing large, dense meshed 3D domains - generating contours, animations etc. for RANS and LES type simulation results in Tecplot; ICEMCFD for generating the grids. So suppose I would have to run MATLAB, Tecplot 360 and ICEMCFD all at the same time for the mentioned uses, would I need an external graphics card? Or any internal, integrated graphics card would suffice? Also, I would like to know your opinion on the new class of intel processors by name "ultra" - viz. intel core ultra 5 125H (www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/236848/intel-core-ultra-5-processor-125h-18m-cache-up-to-4-50-ghz/specifications.html) which comprise the new class of integrated graphics called "Arc" graphics. Are these better than AMD Radeon graphics? Are these CPUs better then Ryzen 5 processors (e.g. Ryzen 5 8645 HS)? Thanks in advance!
