I doubt that these birds "communicate" through there vocalizations, but I am quite sure that they are aware that their performances will result in contact / social interaction with their human companions. This is certainly what a caged bird desires as much as food and water. What beautiful and amazing creatures.

I have a grey that knows the difference between good morning and good night and uses them in the appropriate context. He might not know what the words mean, but he understands.

That a very beautiful amazon that can speak and sing so well but ya granddaughter is stupid. DON'T EVAR STICK YA FINGER IN THEIR CAGES! Does not matter how well trained they are it just takes one bad day and she loses a damn finger! You need to teach her better!

Reminds me of my niece. She's 4 and so good with my birds, even my aggressive amazon. I keep him in his cage while she's over and taught her how to give him treats without getting in biting range. And all my birds like her because she loves to give them attention and treats!
