So the most universal one is the Purple one, because it is complete with a super chip and you can use it with mainly any car as long as you don't need to use a smart remote with Proximity on it? I say universal because its has the super chip and it's wireless so easy to set up? Also Is wired better than wireless? or doesn't make a difference when it comes to keeping the program and not losing it? Does the wire have a better advantage of retaining the remote program than the super chip?

2 grand, plus can only program their keys and not manufacturers? 😂 It could be worse. Someone could buy their full version software for $10,000. I wonder how the people at ilco sleep at night. None of these tools send encrypted data over the bus. Anyone can listen to it. 🤷♂️

$3800.00 for Full Smart pro with unlimited tokens for a year and you can do just about any car with any keys short of newer Fords and Toyotas. After the year is up you can by token packs as needed. Great machine and company. They will be doing back flips if Autel and xtool join forces with NASTF.

@geraldskinner63 xhorse and Autel do the same for 300 dollars with free updates for life. It's weird because you're saying the target market for this isn't professional locksmiths that already have nastf accounts. It's random people. The entire point of the new security requirements is to lock 3rd party companies from making these tools. If they can make one, i can make one, and anyone can.

One thing to clarify. The Smart Pro Lite can program OEM keys. The tokens for the Lite are not purchased but are earned or "banked" by purchasing Ilco keys and scanning the QR code into your MyKeysPro account.

@@honestlocksmith5428 I didn't say anything about a target market?? That said I don't not agree with the proposed plan NASTIF would like to move forward with. The government (which NASTIF is not) has bigger issues to deal with than your neighbor being able to program keys. The tool "control" can easily be regulated by the manufactures themselves. But do I know? I'm just a Locksmith.

We could discuss this if you'd like as I'm very knowledgeable in the communication protocols and encryption of the remotes and transponders, as well as the vehicles computers and communication networks. What do I know? I'm just an engineer, security researcher, tool manufacturer, and locksmith.

Generally, beginners should start with domestic and Asian vehicles. If you want to get into European car programming, the Autel IM 608 would be a good programmer to research. Also, the Xhorse VVDI series of tools including the VVDI2, VVDIMB, etc.

Per the directions, the arm bolt and the screws holding the mounting plate to the closer must be secured using a torque wrench. This is not optional.

I bought them from Aliexpress, much cheaper and fast at least I am in Southern CA, got in a few days. $16 for 10 superchips for example. Much cheaper than ebay or locksmith supply imo.

Hi Joe, the Ikey820 Elite lists the VW Beetle as a supported vehicle, but get in touch with your local locksmith and I'm certain they can cut and program some spare remotes for you.

In case of the wired key (I only use the remote for opening my car doors), is it required to register the generated new remote key to my car in dealer shop? Or is it possible to simply copy the current key (currently being used to open my car doors) to a new key using Xhorse tools (without visiting the dealer shop to register the new key to my car) and then to use the copied new key to open my car door?

Depends on the car. Some (usually older ones) have on-board programming, else it need to be programmed into your car (married to the car). The wired/non wired is mostly how to generate remote with the tool.

The Key Tool Max wanted to use the vehicle's on board programming, but the car was not responding to the motions. We took the opportunity to demo a different device on the off chance that there was something wrong with the vehicle's ECU.

I have these installed at a facility I manage. I need to enable manual mode with power assist. Does the cover just slide on, or are there any retaining clips? I didn't want to pull too hard if there are some fasteners I'm overlooking.

Hi Mike, yes that's possible! Chips and remotes generated by the mini key tool can be programmed by any programming tool with coverage for the particular vehicle.

I have the ikey820 device, buy it 4 years ago - the previous version and as a locksmitter I can't recommend it to buy.

Just phased out quite a bit. You cant expect a $600 to do everything. Be reasonable. Only fact it has free token makes it worth it. It is a stanalone device that does not depend on internet. Very efficient for Nissan Chrysler nd other local cara. No support but no need for it. It does the job at the speed of a lightening. You only paying $600 cmon😊

Man, yall really are missing out on a lot of opportunity by not designing these to be waterproof. Retail is a huge market that is in high demand for a "smart" lock, and it's a really difficult platform to find cost-effective solutions for. This would be a perfect solution.
