Very good advice 👍 Could I offer you a suggestion, now I could be wrong please tell me if I am. It looks like the river was very shallow and you were stood on the bottom, so I would suggest deeper water that you can't touch the bottom, and standing up on the board then falling in so you go under the water and get the full shock of the cold water just like you would in a real life situation. But once again great advice, great video. 👍
@danerik.westerlind24 күн бұрын
Thanks my friend. Right at the river's edge, it is never under 2 meters deep. Where I test the dry suit in this video, it is between 4-6 meters deep, depending on how much water there is in the river. So I never reach the bottom regardless of the water depth. This is not an instructional video, I'm not a guy to instruct in safety, just meant to inspire to test your equipment and practice saving yourself, I usually play a little from time to time, then I jump in from the board or capsize the kayak, usually however, don't show such things and rarely film me when I do.
@THE-RIVER-RAT24 күн бұрын
@danerik.westerlind I get it buddy But you should make a safety video showing the full test, I'm sure a lot of people would find it very useful, and because of your style I'm sure you will get plenty of views because you do give some great advice in your videos.

Looks like a good suit, latex seals often tear. Neoprene might let a little water in but it's so much better in every other way.
@danerik.westerlindАй бұрын
So far I'm happy with my new dry suit. Yes, it´s a semi dry suit because of neoprene but as I understand it Hiko do it so it hinder water to go inside, so the neoprene will get wet but not me on the inside.

Nice suit mate and I'm sure you will be happy you picked one with a relief zipper. 👍👍
@danerik.westerlindАй бұрын
Thanks, I have been looking on many dry suits but I like this one because it's neoprene in neck and wrist and still should be 100% water proof. Latex is too tight for me. This Hiko dry suit feels comfortable and a relief zipper was a must, because this sort of dry suit take a while to get off, the old one have a zipper in the middle and was faster to unzip.🤗
@THE-RIVER-RATАй бұрын
@@danerik.westerlind Sorry to tell you but it won't be 100% waterproof as neoprene will let water in. However, not much as it socks it up as long as you're not in the water too long. But please don't get me wrong because it's still a great dry suit.
@danerik.westerlindАй бұрын
@@THE-RIVER-RAT Yes it´s a semi dry suit, but as I understand Hiko have built it so the neoprene will be wet on outside but nog on inside, time will tell. Thanks Janet😍 Interesting that it's the same all over the world, where price comes before beauty. @daveysАй бұрын
Very interesting. I’d heard that the X500’s were “tippy” but had only seen a couple of videos where people were saying about durability. I suspected that the issues were where the folds were and caused by brittle failure due to cold. Not seen anything before about banana issue, but I guess that it only takes the production to be slightly out of line and there could easily be issues with the shape. Glad that Decathlon dealt with it without quibbling.
@danerik.westerlindАй бұрын
Yes Decathlon was really good! For me x500 is not tippy at all, just as fine as my sea kayak. But I guess the people that find it tippy don't paddle sea kayak, instead they compare to other inflatable kayaks that are wider and not built in this way. So far I think this is the best inflatable kayak when it comes to performance of a hard sea kayak, I have not tested all inflatable kayaks, so it might be a better option. Of coarse this is shorter and don´t have the speed of a long sea kayak. When it comes to durability it seems that they have problem but we have had our kayaks now for more than a year and don´t have any issues. I ran over a sharp rock, so I needed to repair a little hole, that´s all and I can´t blame built quality on that. Before that I have hit stones, many many times so I started to believe that it was indestructible. So far I just can say that durability is really good.
@daveysАй бұрын
@@danerik.westerlind - I have IK’s and also a hard SOT kayak. I don’t think that I’d call any of them indestructible, but they all seem reasonably tough. Your X500 will certainly be more rigid than my Itiwit 3’s. I’m ready for a rip in the hull of mine every time I hear a scraping noise, but so far so good. When that happens, I’ll weld a big PVC patch on it with a heat gun. Thanks for the video, I’ll look forward to seeing more of your channel!
