@FoilingPastor10 күн бұрын
depends a bit on your abilities. I would prefer a smaller board between 80-90cm and a bit wider frontwing 130-150cm to pumping. But if the pumping skills are still lacking, then a smaller board will make it more difficult for sure.

Interesting thoughts! I plan to do it the other way round: I want to fully accomplish flat water paddle ups at first (I manage to paddle up with my hardboard 8 out of 10 times, but now need to learn to be able to pump & fly properly for at least 1min), then I plan to start learning dock start pump foiling, already have got a gong kluber but haven't used it yet, as I just don't want to do a dock start before being able to pump & fly in a stable manner with my sup. After that, I will try to wing foil as well. Watching your sessions you are really, really close! Your paddle technique has improved in my point of view. You might still want to improve 2 things: 1. Increase your paddle power & frequency slowly but steady just the same way as your pumping. This will help you build up speed. Don't try to pull the board out of the water too early with too little speed. Plan to do lots (8-12) of strokes and pumps in a high frequency at first as this will give you the needed speed to safely activate your foil. 2. You don't need to do "huge" pumps, but even when doing smaller pumps, try to lift off your back foot (except from the toes) every single time, as this is crucial to take off the weight from your board. Otherwise you'll pull up just the nose, lose speed and stall.
@FoilingPastor2 ай бұрын
thank you for your recommendations. Dockstarting is quite different from flat water paddle ups and I think that learning to pump is much easier with a pocket board then with a sup foil. So I am not sure about your order of learning to foil, but I wish great success. I also didn`t go the usual way, since I learned first pumpfoiling and then winging, but it helped me to learn winging, so it wasn`t too bad.

The mast is plenty stiff, yet when compared to axis ultra/ afs (different price range tho) it has a lot of chord. Can't wait to see how it feels on bigger front wings, as a 750 sqcm feels good oon pretty much any other mast :D So for everyone whos into downwinding, I can really recommend the HDW :)

That v1/v2 square wing connection never gave me any problem in any discipline, it's always the mast to fuse connection bolts that get loose, no big deal though. I am surprised to see no big v3 Curves in the lineup, they seem like a way better option for people who want learn on a freefoil setup than running Siruses. I did see v3 Siruses on Gong's website yesterday, the specs were identical to the V2 which if true is great but there's still room for the 4xlh and 6xlh in the lineup in my opinion.
@yohann.roussel2 ай бұрын
Mast to fuselage connection is not about screws getting out, but mast getting in the fuselage letting the screws untight, you can get rid of the issue either by hitting hard the fuselage with a rubber hammer when you install it but it's a pain, or just let your fuselage installed on the mast and the issue will disappear expect once after each time you need to change a messy or fuselage (I have 2 masts of different lengths so I bought 2 fuselages in order to avoid the issue). V3 doesn't change a thing on that.

Marvinho, I have a question. I see you are using xxl sirus stab. Is the xxl sirus stab better than large size one? I know gong recommends large size for xxl front wing. Did you tried different stabs? Ever considering XXXL sirus stab? Does biger sirus stab help / is easier to get onto foil? I saw a guy on favebook forum just pumping with front sirus xxl and stab xxxl and he did oven an hour. Thats crazy good. For sup paddle up, is bigger=better? Thank you.
@FoilingPastor3 ай бұрын
Hi Martin, for flatwater paddle up, I don`t know what stab size will be the best. I tried several stabs so far and own also the Sirus Stab in M (kzbin.info/www/bejne/j16rXqWhmtqGn9U). I didn`t consider a bigger stab, because for wingfoiling it`s helpful to have the same size, otherwise you will get more frontfoot or backfoot pressure depending on the difference stab/frontwing ratio. For pumping, Axis und Indiana believe and show that a smaller stabilizer works better to get records, for Gong I am not sure. I pushed my record to 8 minutes with the Sirus Stab XXL and I think I won`t be that good with the Sirus M, but I will need to spend way more time on the Sirus M to know that for sure. I guess it depends also on your weight, but with my weight of 65kg, pumping with the Sirus Stab XXL requires more leg strength than with the Stab in M. So at some point, needing more strength will counteract the better glide. Hope that helps. I am still in process of figuring everything out myself...

Please take this as a suggestion and not a critique! My feeling is that you need to calm your arms down, pull them in front of your body and lower the amount of energy your upper body is putting in... stand up a bit more straight... When you are holding the 360 camera your technique looks better!
@FoilingPastor2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your suggestions. May I ask how long you can pump? In my experience using my arms and upper body helps me greatly to lower the exhaustion of my legs. I understand that not moving the arms and being more straight, might look better, but I have never experienced to be more efficient. Maybe our different perception is coming from different setups. With smaller stabs and smaller frontwings, I need less strenght, my candece of pumping is smaller, I don`t need to use my arms that much. With bigger frontwings and stabs, I need more strenght to push the foil down and the candence is much slower. Therefore it helps to pump with my whole body. I might be mistaken, but this would be my best explanation of our difference in philosophy.

@@FoilingPastor I got to about 50 seconds on an Axis 1150 before I moved more toward E-foiling and learning to wing... The times that I've pumped the larger 1310 I've felt that the overall pump vertical height needs to be less. When I try to pump it like the 1150, I just stall it.
