i play horns all my life. On the Big Island of Hawaii, I play with quality musicians. I played this for my fav guitar player here on the Island. HE WAS/IS STUNNED!! He commented with excitement: "When space scientists send a time capsule into outer space.... they must include music from Brian Auger, that way outer spacers that find the time capsule will know how incredible advanced Earth's music is". This music is ultra EPIC. Thank you forever, Brian and friends.

What a shame how empty brained the interviewer is. Otherwise thank you for uploading the interview. It was Five Miles Out time and they're all happy and vibing together. One cannot help but wonder what would it have been like with a clever interviewer asking the right questions. Hope more material like this will flourish. Thank you Bass!!!

First saw Terry on The Old Grey Whistle Test and that was it, I was hooked! What a powerhouse of a voice and so unique. That was in the early 70s and I'm still listening to him today. Such a great guy. Keep rocking Terry.

Great sound guys, it carries the dynamics of that excellent song by EL&P which is quite difficult! being a bass player for years, i got to get songs down like originals by Paul McCartney, sting, chris squire and other famous bassmen but to me, Greg Lake is the most challenging ever On a side note, the voice level is really low and it should be dominating especially when singing Evil learning, people burning, so disgusting, no one lasting... It would certainly move audiences to hear a louder vocalist. But the group sounds super cool 👍
@bcrichbass19873 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. It is true that Greg Lake's vocals are difficult. It was especially difficult to sing the parts where the singing style is completely different between the live and album versions, and the low-pitched parts. shout is also difficult, but I think I got a good experience. Unfortunately, the band has disbanded, but I would like to give it another chance. Thank you very much.

@@bcrichbass1987 sad ! As a group you guys did super, pls go on with your bass and music, it's actually impressive and there is a large population of people who are sick of the present-day music industry and will appreciate this

Brian is one of best B-3 players left. I as well had all Oblivion Express LPs. Now cds. I wore them out. He’s still playing with son on drums, daughter on vocals. He’s a session man on many other LPs/cds

It must be one of the most awkward interviews I have ever seen. On the other hand, it's a perfect hybrid of austrian humour (clumsy, uncomfortable, a thousand grains of salt) and british humour (banter as a polite way to answer their way out - not too obviously taking the piss of the interviewer, but not taking the otherwise outrageous questions completely seriously)

On a scale of 1-10 how hard was this?
@bcrichbass19877 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. The difficulty level is about 6-7. I think it is surprisingly fast and the rhythm is hard to match. I was asked by others if I had a tab score, so I made one for your reference. You can play the video by opening the page and pressing the play button in the upper left corner. flat.io/score/66081fa0aeb64af4c036fcd3-lark-s-tongues-in-aspic-part-one?sharingKey=f5cc54218720a1771fb47430651e65ff333a9c0b09be4c1a13f0396c6f3967d9adb3b0f37badc241bdccde2a52f0c7757bfbc3c8ee9b81c37978df3d2056a3d9

I bought all those Oblivion Express records back in the day and played the hell out of them. Great band and was pleased to know them since they were not very well known back then, and probably even less now. Nevertheless, the were a wonderful group and blended rock and jazz effortlessly.

I did as well, I saw them close to University of Connecticut, a bar. Now his son plays drums, daughter sings. One of my favorites. Yes, jazz w/fusion. One of remaining B-3 players. I am not sure he still tours. I have almost everything he did. Important to know he played on many other bands as well as his own. Grateful I saw him once

Fascinating to see this candid stuff. Shame about the interviewer, with such terrible questions - really excruciating at times. Still appreciate the upload. They were extremely patient having to put up with all that after a show!

... exactly what I felt watching this: on the one hand really rare backstage footage of this tour / this particular band - I LOVE IT !!!!! 🤩 , on the other hand such a clumsy austrian guy asking that embarrassing questions (especially to the band members)... OMG 🤦♂ (sorry for my poor English - hello from Germany)
