If you're here and are curious.... check out set2 opening China Cat.... It's at 50:00 , So, notice how Jerry starts w/the usual china cat signature guitar riff... but after a few bars, he starts experimenting and variating with it... very cool, and id have to s3ay, quite rare to hear him do .... It also means "look out - there's about to be some throwing down ahead" and indeed, this China Rider is bubbling and popping w guitar excitement

band was playing well that last night at MSG. My 25th at the iconic NY venue. Bobby was enjoying himself a lot and Jerry, while seeming to be fading physically, played some great guitar from the get-go. How 'bout that Birdsong! ...and a beatiful Stella with an unusually fast-paced end jam which rocked.

Best show of that summer as far as i saw or heard. I think jerry was happy to be outta the sun snd indoors for a few nights. I remeber hanging out with mike gordon in the parking lot for a bit. He told us sbout waterloo the following nite so we checked that out before going to rfk dc. Jerry is in bad shape , addiction is horrible snd the health issues that come with it. I mean bobby was rollerblading around the city that day snd jerry was dying before our eyes. Glad i got to see them even if it was only for a few years. It was like seeing the tail end of splended shooting star.

One way or another this darkness has got to give There are glimmers of soul and interesting music in here. These guys were experimenting until the end. It is sad to see how Jerry's mind burned out in his early fifties- I actually find that sadder than his death. This band is a great example of both the advantages and pitfalls that can come with drug use.

I remember Jerry resting his head on his chest as he played and his big belly jiggling that spring in Atlanta. What a great band.

The guys in this band were extremely generous in giving Vince the opportunity to sing Baba O'Riley and Tomorrow Never Knows. By all rights he should have been dismissed from the band six months into his tenure when it became clear that he still hadn't been able to learn the songs and they'd need another year of backup from Bruce Hornsby.

This disturbs me every time I watch it. Look how shaky Jerry’s hands are. He is struggling to play. It’s like he doesn’t have control over his fingers. My educated guess (as a 16 year clean opiate addict) is it’s more his diabetes than using. Of course the diabetes getting so bad was from using. But after going through 86 he must’ve known he was feeling similar dangerous symptoms. But I guess that train was just too big to stop. As in the tour. He looks so weak and keeps messing with his guitar but I think he is just struggling to do anything and is taking breaks. It’s just all still so sad. His face is expressionless. He’s just along for the ride at that point. A sad non stop ride. Addiction is a miserable existence. Anyone who says the addict is high and the people around them are the ones truly in pain don’t have a Fing clue. I tried to hang myself during my addiction and tried other ways as well because I was in such mental hell. It’s not any fun.

It was really sad to see Jerry like this I was federally indicted while ungrateful dead tour for something I was doing to fund my tour while being on tour falling in the Grateful Dead and I went away for a couple of years when I came home and saw the condition of Jerry Garcia I was saddened
