Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! I did make this, and it did take quite a long time. Dreams is not too far off from other forms of game development. Game development in Dreams can be tedious and very time consuming. There're a lot of things that are made easier relatively, but it's still going to be a slog to do a good job. And there's unfortunately no added incentive of getting rich off it. I have the same problem. So many ideas, so little time. I've had to just accept that some things won't likely ever see daylight in order for others to get completed. My recommendation if you're new to Dreams is to try doing something that's not too vast in scope and fairly simplistic mechanically.

I know that this comment is kind of out of place, I'm literally about to pull my hair out as I just can't seem to figure this out. If you don't mind explaining, a point system where different racers will recieve points based on which place they finish. Followed by a victory system displaying the racers who had the top 3 scores. How would you make a manhunt style game with executions and enviromental executions while hiding in shadows and using different weapons this is great but i grew up with manhunt this is more metal gear solid.
@EasyDreamsCult
@EasyDreamsCult 22 күн бұрын
These mechanics you mentioned are doable in Dreams. Environmental executions, and executions with a variety of weapons are good suggestions for video subjects. To start making a manhunt style game the first thing to do would be to figure out your parameters and weigh them against what Dreams can handle. For example you'll want to decide on a graphical style. Do you want it to be more detailed or less? A more detailed graphical style is going to cut into your thermo budget more and require you to potentially trim other aspects of the game. You'll want to figure out all the mechanics you want to include and weapons etc.

12:35- This is [imo] "the best" advice one could give to anyone using DREAMS, no matter what the person is trying to create: characters, environments and assets alike. It helps with THERMO costs and for beginners, thats something they shouldn't be worrying about when starting out (as it may take the joy away, such as stressing anything normally does).
@no_1_knoz
@no_1_knoz 25 күн бұрын
18:33- (more good advice) DREAMS was built for the 'everyday creators' and getting obsessed with hyper-realism can do more harm than good to both the person and the tool. Not to say hyper-realism can't be achieved, but as with any tool people need to know how to use it "WELL", before testing its limits and if that's not the goal, even better. Creating is more about expression and being an outlet, first and foremost. [also imo]
@EasyDreamsCult
@EasyDreamsCult 25 күн бұрын
@@no_1_knoz Couldn't agree more with these statements, especially about the hyper-realism. There were quite a few people back in the day making these "hyper-realism" showcases on Dreams, and they naturally got a lot of publicity. People were all "ooooh aaaah, look at how good the Dreams graphics are". A lot of these showcases were very skillful and did look quite spectacular, but a lot of them went hog on thermo. As a creator it was possible to see that while they were able to pull off a nice showcase with those levels of detail, they couldn't easily pull off a full complex game because of thermo budget. I think the big problem was that new people saw that stuff, and then thought "oh wow, I can just go hop on Dreams and make some kind of awesome next gen Skyrim game or something". Then when they learned the reality they just gave up, left, and threw the baby out with the bathwater.

Aerial fauna and insects are believable and clean waters allow for an ecosystem. Solid decisions of cohesion over extravagant features. Chill and robotless, somethong to be grateful of. Not a great thing in itself but an overall positive addition to the system, making the resto of planets feel more alive. ⭐⭐ PLANET 4: Best athmosferic entry, to an humid fog covered surface. @@EasyDreamsCult For sure. The problem in making a large game with these bugs is that you don't often encounter them until you're stitching scenes together in a Dream. I don't tend to do that until extremely late in the dev cycle. It's even more surprising when you're only working on one project and haven't been to the final stages of stitching scenes together. I had one doorway problem where a truck on my racing track would spawn just fine in its own scene, but when connected with doorways to other scenes within a Dream, the truck would spawn vertically in the air where the microchip was that contained the doorway gadget. At first, I fixed it by placing the doorway gadget on the part of the track where I wanted the truck to be, but then I figured out that turning off checkpoint mode allowed me to leave it in the chip where it originally was. It was pretty horrifying to discover this bug after editing the track a billion times with it never happening in regular edit, testing and play modes.

Thanks for the question! Put a doorway on the end of the timeline. We'll probably make a tutorial about how to end dreams in general, since it's a subject that we should cover.

I'm baffled that I only found your channel just recently (damned YT algorithm) and at your comfort level when sculpting. This series is gonna be entertaining nonetheless and I can't wait to see what i learn from it, as well as what all cryptids you make (ima fan of cryptids). THANX for sharing!

Very glad you found us, and are enjoying the content! Yeah, KZbin seems to be a hot mess honestly. We're not very good at playing its games with SEO and all. We're basically just doing our own thing and hoping for the best.
