Incredible tutorial! Thank you so much!! Do you know, is there a way to use a midi controller?

Thank you so much, im using the "yippee" meme sound and before it was just a beep, but now it actually sounds like it!

I think you mixed up High pass and low pass. Isn't High pass cutting off the bass frequencies ("letting high frequencies pass") and low pass cutting off high frequencies ("letting low frequencies pass")?
@yogi_tronimal5 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's what I say. I just accidentally say below instead of above one time.

In case you need a quick guide... Here is what I would normally do to prepare WAV samples for GB Studio 3.1+ In the right order. Cut the sample as tight as possible. Lowpassfilter 5834hz 48db Resample track 8000 hz Highpassfilter 440hz 48db Amplify to peak 0db Export as 8 bit pcm Amplify to peak +6db Export as 8 bit pcm again compare samples within a rom to a song to see if +6db is too loud or too low. You might need to amplify even further, depending on the type of sound.
@MarcPi6 ай бұрын
Amplifying a sound louder than 0dB won't never be a good idea, it will always clip. Also, using Audacity is the worst advice here. If you can afford, is way better using Adobe Audition. If not, anything is better than Audacity. If you have a Mac, Garage band or Logic is good. You can compress the audio to get a bit more volume.
@yogi_tronimal6 ай бұрын
If you pay attention to how the Game Boy process samples, you'd recoginze it is a very good idea to amplifiy a lot. (With or without limiter) You don't need any paid software for that process, absolutely not. Audacity works fine for years and years.
@MarcPi6 ай бұрын
@@yogi_tronimal well, I have more than 2 decades of experience as sound engineer and work with a lot of audio software and I reaffirm that Audacity is the worst piece of shit I ever had to use. For the GB sampling, I have no experience, so not arguing here. But still hardly doubt that ampliffing the way you do it is the optim way.
@yogi_tronimal6 ай бұрын
@@MarcPi There is really no need for any paid software here. And get a subsciption model software to prepare Game Boy samples is just absurd. Especially if free software (Audacity) can do absolutely all you need.
