Hi Dianne, I like the first version of the coat but the changes have made the coat so much better its a pitty you didnt have some matterial left because covered buttons would look good, look forward to see what buttons you decided to put on. Susan,🌺🌸🌼🌻

I like the new look coat better than it previously was. I would just have two large buttons at the front, I think four would be too fussy, but that’s my opinion 😁. I’m sure whatever you decide it will work.

Hello Dianne, this coat looks totally different now you have removed the flaps. Much more wearable as a winter coat. I think 2 large heather coloured buttons at the front and the same but smaller for the back would make this a statement coat. This is an expensive looking coat, enjoy wearing it. I look forward to seeing it finished. Happy sewing 🧵

Hi Dianne, Congratulations on the coat! It looks super and really suits you! I want to turn a pleated wool skirt into a pinafore because it was a bit snug and I wasn’t wearing it. I unpicked the pleats and dyed the fabric a slightly darker colour. I am thinking of making the Camden pinafore from Nina Lee. It will be a challenge for me as I have only made two dresses - from cotton and linen and I have not sewn with wool before. But it will be a good learning experience! Thank you for your inspiring video!

That’s a lovely top for a casual Christmas look. Thanks for saying about the cutting of the sleeves, I have a ,not very informative ,sewing pattern and I think I have cut them out wrongly as both back notches ended up on the same side! Luckily I still have a bit of fabric so I will do another one the opposite way.

What a shame the house was such a disappointment, I find it is getting harder and harder to figure out how an accommodation really is as photos and reviews can be truly misleading. The fabrics you bought are beautiful. Your sons girlfriend must be very happy:) May I ask you which top you are wearing? It looks very pretty.

Hi Dianne, sorry your weekend hasn't worked out as you'd planned - that's so disappointing! Seems like you're trying to make the best of it though 😏 Nice that you've treated yourself to some fabric and have plans for it. I've been working on a velvet top in the same colour as your new blue knit! It's something I started a couple of years ago and never finished - I think it's because I found the polyester velvet hard to work with. There's not much to do though so it won't take long to finish. Hope you get a refund for the holiday house! xx
@Dianne-ut5vr22 күн бұрын
Hi Michelle, yes it was a real shame, but these things happen though and there are people going through a lot so I decided not to dwell on it. I look forward to seeing your top when it is finished and yes velvet is tricky. I find mainly that velvet makes such a mess when you are cutting it out. Have a lovely day. ☺

This is spooky, only minutes ago I commented on your latest Minerva vlog as I’m right in the middle of sewing that exact Simplicity pattern. And the next thing on my sewing table is replacing the zip in my husband’s walking trousers! Are you peeking through my sewing room window?! 🤣🤣. Great timing. Thank you very much. 😀

Hi Dianne This video is perfect timing because my zipper broke on my favorite fleece jacket last winter and I put it away to replace a new zip in the summer which I forgot to do. It’s starting to get cooler so as I was taking out my winter clothes I remembered my jacket and was going to look for a video to learn how to replace it. I subscribe to your channel and this popped up just at the right time. Thanks for the tutorial. This was very helpful and I’m glad I subscribe to your channel. I always enjoy your videos on sewing and book recommendations Have a good week.

Hi Jill, oh that is handy. I hope it comes in useful then. I have also been swapping out my warmer clothes and I noticed a tiny hole in the tweed/denim style jacket that I made earlier this year, it is wool so now I am thinking is that a moth hole?? Never had this before and I am very disapponted I will have to invisible mend that. Have a good week. ☺

Dianne, I loved your video (I always do) and totally agree with your comments and sentiments. I sometimes think that sewing has become a bit of an obsession the way that everything is so quickly made. I’m slow! I haven’t read The Offing, but have listened to a reading on Radio 4 Extra. I loved it and got completely lost in it. I wonder if you have a suggestion for an a line skirt pattern for a tartan wool fabric please. Keep doing your videos. Love them.

Hi there Angela. Thank you, in regards to the skirt New look 6035 has a nice easy A line skirt in the pattern that I have made before, but you also get the blazer, top and trousers. I have made the blazer and top also all really nice. I didn't know they read books on radio 4 I will look into that. Have a good week.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video - I agree totally about the over consumption we all tend to suffer from these days - I never watch 'unboxings' or fabric stash trawls. Quite a few You Tubers I follow have backed off for a while or slowed down and reflected on what they're doing. My wardrobe is mainly altered/modified charity shop clothes and I've gleaned lots of tips from your makes. Abbeydale Road is one of my favourite shopping locations - as is Spring Gardens Buxton - I've been known to spend up to £20 in one charity shop spree! 😊

Lovely cardigan. How did you get such a good finish on the bottom hem band? Mine doesn’t lie as flat. What hints and tricks do you have to avoid a wavy bottom?!!, do you overlock the seams together to finish it off/ and cuffs? If so do you use three or four threads on the overlocker? Also how do you get the bottom seam to lie flat?
@Dianne-ut5vrАй бұрын
Thank you, I only use three threads as I only use it for finishing, try pressing the seam upwards, it may also need to be a little longer. ☺
@elizabethsaint5804Ай бұрын
@@Dianne-ut5vrthank you, I will try three threads on the overlocker. What do you mean by it could do with being longer?
@Dianne-ut5vrАй бұрын
@@elizabethsaint5804 If it is very wavy at the bottom maybe you are having to pull on it too much to make it fit, so a slightly longer band next tome might help, not a lot just a bit.
