I’m in a touring tribute band. We play all over the United States, anywhere from 500 people to over 3000 people and very large venues. I just purchased this and it’s going to arrive on Friday. Can you please let me know if you ended up working out the muting issue with the waste packs? The reason I ask is that all of our music has backing tracks with click and everything in it and if they mute, we are dead in the water. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you for your review and thank you in advance for your reply to me.
@imJMB23 күн бұрын
Hey Bobby! Truth be told, we ended up parting ways with our singer shortly after this video was posted, and so we're kind of working from the ground up again. That said, we haven't had any gigs, and as such, haven't had a chance to have the issue replicate itself. In your situation though, my honest suggestion is ALWAYS to have the drummer hard-wired. Since drummers don't generally walk away from the kit too much during a show, it almost guarantees that they've always got the click in their ears, and if worse comes to worst, everyone else can always follow him until the song finishes and they've had an opportunity to iron out the issue. I know this isn't the answer you were hoping for, but I hope it helps at least a little! Best of luck!
@Bobbyzjr23 күн бұрын
@@imJMB thank you so much for your detailed reply. I really appreciate that. Yeah, our drummer will probably always stay hardwired. Sorry to hear about your Singer. Yeah, we are in the biggest Morgan Wallen tribute band in the country. So we literally play all over the place from California to New York and we sell out a lot of shows. I just don’t wanna take the chance of having something catastrophic happen even though we do have back ups of XVIVE. Anyhow, I appreciate your reply

Hi mate, is this an upgrade to the PTM-10? If so, do you know what’s been improved? Many thanks for anyone’s help !
@imJMB24 күн бұрын
While similar in some regards, the PTM-10 and PTM-11 are different units. I imagine many would consider the most notable difference between the two to be that the PTM-10 is stereo, while the PTM-11 is mono, which largely contributes to the $71 difference in price (with the PTM-10 being the more expensive option). The PTM-10 also offers 89 channel options, as compared to 50 with the PTM-11. With that in mind, I've not had the pleasure of trying the PTM-10 (though I would love to if Phenyx would like to send me one), but I suspect they share similar strengths and weaknesses, and which one you should go for would greatly depend on your specific needs. Personally, while I love the idea of having a stereo mix, I don't find it necessary in my case, so I would opt to save the money. Stereo also requires having enough outputs on your board to facilitate that (each person with a stereo mix will need 2 outs), and that's not always the case for folks. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of being able to try the KX100, so I'm not equipped to answer this one. :( What I CAN say though, is that the KX100 is about double the price of what the DMT-100 can be picked up for with the occasional sales/discounts, and aside from the Cort being a more well-known name, I can't see anything spec wise that would compel me to pay double the price for one, over the DMT-100. I bought a DMT-100 in gradient violet myself recently. I've been using a 28", straight-scale 8-string as a 6-string to play E standard tuned songs lol, so I was curious and decided to check out a Donner as a cheap & quick solution to acquire a 6-string. Of course, being Canadian, I had to pay $250CAD for what has now gone down to $200CAD two days after I bought it... I am not disappointed though. Out of the box, it played great; other than being severely out of tune, but it was expected being a cheaper guitar & having changing weather. I have an Ibanez RGMS7 27" to 25.5" multi-scale 7-string (a $700 guitar) and this Donner feels/plays identically to it. A couple aesthetic finish issues, but for the way it sounds, plays, and how much I paid, I can't really complain (I can also remedy the aesthetic problems myself). I'll definitely be upgrading the tuners as the high E tuning head has already cost me a string, and also possibly the bridge pickup. Being made of poplar & maple, it could also make a cool little project guitar if you wanted to strip the hardware and electronics, sand, touch up, re-paint & re-finish it, and put it back together with upgraded hardware.

I think using these guitars as a customization base would be a great idea for anyone looking to get into customs, or someone who just wants a fun project on the cheap. I've given some serious thought into it myself! It even sounds like a fun idea for a video. Who knows...maybe one day. :D

Good video. I'm thinking about going this route. I'm in a duo but my band is a 5 piece tribute and we're doing some sold out shows with several hundred people. Getting a good monitor mix can be a pain especially if the guy next to you has his blasting to the point that I can't hear mine so this might be the route to go and spending $500+ for a single unit is not in my future. Thanks for showing this stuff.
@imJMB2 ай бұрын
Hey Brian. Congrats on the upcoming sold out shows! That's awesome! Yeeeeah, I sure don't miss those days, for that exact reason. Before actually having tinnitus, I'd have nights of ringing ears just because of a small stage and a half deaf singer. I know your big concern is your own monitor mix right now, but if you can get your band to chip in on one, you might consider the PTM-33 at some point. As I mention in the video, it offers 4 independent mixes, and then you can either have your drummer be wired direct to the board (since I'm guessing he doesn't march around stage much), or have 2 people in the band share a mix and buy an extra bodypack. You could TECHNICALLY get the PTM-33 and then a PTM-11 for 5 independent mixes, but they occupy the same frequency range, so the limitations regarding channels will still exist, and conflict could potentially occur. As such, Phenyx actually advises against that. Just a thought, though. Good luck with everything!

How good for music production?
@imJMB2 ай бұрын
I do make mention of that in the video. :)
@Saxyct2 ай бұрын
Hi there, I recently bought this wireless IEM system (I am a bass player) to play in live setups with my band. However it produces a very annoying hiss as soon as I turn either the transmitter or receiver know above half the volume. It's a clear static noise which is very unpleasant, did you notice the same?
@imJMB2 ай бұрын
Keith? Who is this Keith you speak of? lol- As I demonstrated in the video, there is some degree of hiss/white noise present as soon as I turn on the bodypack (regardless of whether or not the transmitter is on), but it doesn't seem to be effected by the volume of the bodypack itself (at least not in a way that I find perceivable to my ears), and whatever amount of hiss I do hear, is overtaken as soon as someone in the band starts playing. I tend to keep my ears only as loud as is absolutely necessary to hear what I need to in an effort to protect myself from worsening tinnitus, so it's not as though the volume of the instruments is incredible. I think this points more to the white noise/hiss being relatively low in comparison. If you feel like you're experiencing something extra, I'd start by turning the bodypack on while the transmitter is off, and seeing if the hiss behaves in the same way. If not, it's probably something related to the transmitter, or the signal going into it. In my experience, Phenyx is pretty good at responding to emails, so if you can't figure it out, you might consider dropping them a line and seeing what they suggest. :) I hope you're bale to get it sorted!
@Saxyct2 ай бұрын
@@imJMB thank you for your feedback (it was the stupid auto-correct feature, I meant to type "hi there" :D ) I noticed the same hiss also when no signal is fed into the system and the hiss increases also with the volume knob on the transmitter. It's quite loud I'd say, I still didn't try with my band, only at home. I'll check also while playing with the other musicians and I hope it gets better. Thanks!
@imJMB2 ай бұрын
Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly; so when the transmitter is totally off, you still receive hiss in the bodypack that increases with the volume knob? Again, some hiss is normal, regardless of the transmitter status, but in my experience, the hiss doesn't really change with the volume of the bodypack. So if yours is increasing in a noticeable way, I would suggest reaching out to Phenyx, as there may be an issue with your bodypack, as this isn't an issue I've dealt with using any of my bodypacks for either the PTM-11 or the PTM-33. So definitely drop them a line! :)

"Cooperation conditions". You HAVE to tell us more!
@imJMB2 ай бұрын
LOL! I have to admit, I don't think their conditions were entirely unreasonable. I mentioned it simply because the reviews on my channel are normally done in exchange for the item in question, and that wasn't the case here. That said, their conditions essentially boiled down to; 1. Over 2,000 hours average watch time within the last 3 months 2. There must be at least 1 comment on every video on your channel, and no videos set to prohibit comments 3. The channel has been updated within the last 3 months 4. The total amount of playing as of 3 months ago must be over 4,000 hours. While the watch time goals are a bit lofty for me presently, I can understand the stipulations on their part. Maybe I'll reach those goals one day. :)

Donner ignored you?!!? How dare they!? Don't they know how influencial you are? These Donner people are narrow minded.
@imJMB2 ай бұрын
Let's be honest here...with less than 300 subscribers at the moment, my influence is limited to the grass in my yard, and the dead spots would indicate even THAT is hit or miss! Even still, I would think ignoring a customer with a genuine problem would be viewed as being in poor taste by ANYONE. Influence or not, when someone purchases a product, odds are they're hoping the company will stand by that product, and I don't think that's too much for a consumer to ask for. Regardless of that experience, though, I still encouraged folks to give this guitar a fair chance, and expressed my hopes that the company will continue to grow and improve, and I meant it.
@DynamicDave-z8r2 ай бұрын
@imJMB it's just that Donner should have taken into consideration the potential your reviews could have. It's not all just about numbers when it comes to our love for the 6 stringed instrument, the guitar. It's how passionate we are that usually wins. And I see the feelings behind your words, your attempts to still be fair and so on. Your review was a great review and Donner ought to be glad for it.
