Actually each part of this is pretty standard. It's a trumpet built with the same sort of double-bell mechanism you have for a euphonium, bent into the shape of a saxophone, with a harmon mute built into one of the bells. The only thing I haven't seen before in a "serious" instrument is the lever that covers the mute. With a normal trumpet you'd just use your hand, but I guess the way this one is set up you need both hands to play so it makes sense that they'd add something to handle that.

Nice job! Did the sax 0riginally have a bottom guard plate? If so, how did you remove it? Also, where did you purchase the tool that you used, is it specifically made for instrument repairs, or for cars?

Very interesting video but regrettably not in English. Your video is English would assure you of an international viewership.Also do you have comprehensive information on the total design procedure and construction details of either different types of mouthpieces or one of generic type? I am particularly interested in building an exact replica of the famous Paul Desmond the Gregory A4 M18. Please do reply and thank you.

Hi not sure if you'll get this message, but if the soldering of the ring comes unattached on the bell of the trumpet, due to some dent damage to the bell, can that ring seal be resoldered or is it too risky and possibly cause more damage and/or sound issues? Thank you.

It’s not a demo if you are applying a massive amount of reverb. I looked up your whistles on KZbin because I wanted to see if they might be something I’d like to try. When I see a maker use a lot of reverb, it makes me think that they are trying to make up for the sound of the whistle, and I lose interest very fast.

unless the video is way out of synch, the toptone is clacking when (over) opened and the leather is slapping when closed. This shows nothing.

Back around 1994, while living in Reno, NV, I found a 1972 silver-plated Couesnon flugelhorn in a pawn shop. The price I negotiated was $475. I put it in layaway. Christmas Eve I decided to go pay the balance and bring it home, but first, I took it to a local music store for some minor work. They were actually open and the tech was there. I asked him if he could put new springs and valve pads in. He said the horn didn't really need that, but proceeded to tool out every little ding and dent, and then buffed the horn to a mirror finish. He gave it back to me, so I asked "what do I owe you?" He replied, "Merry Christmas."

How is the playability compared to a regular low d tin whistle? Is there a difference in breath requirement between the two? Are the finger holes on this “recorder” spaced as far apart a on your low d whistle? It sounds very nice.
@dequelerywindinstruments8375
@dequelerywindinstruments8375 2 жыл бұрын
Yes there is a different in air requirement. This takes less pressure, more like a recorder needs it. The fingerspacing is excalty the same as on our Low D whistles. It's the same body.

i think the uncensored and practical repair techniques are honest. Clearly this was not meant to demo more critical repair skills as in saving a valuable neck. I've done the economy lay on patch at cracked stressed areas on student horns. A vid showing a brazed or lead free flush patch nearly invisible, for cosmetic reasons, comes to mind. So many possibilities and nuanced aesthetically pleasing outcomes to show the troops. Fixing old mic pic up holes are a nice customer service to video. I like the fabricated, soldering assembly, hold down springs too; in addition to the banding wire tie downs.
