What an incredible showman Bill Friedkin was.... he could've done stand-up comedy if he wanted to. Never tired of listening to him and the brilliant uncensored way he talks. Hooper is an amazing director too but he's really quite bad with words.

Friedkin saying that he saw "the scariest film ever" is a joke in itself. I think he directed it.

Both men directed films that stand the test of time. Both of them made films that are in my top 10 favourite films of all time. Sorcerer is one of the most compelling films ever. Tobe Hooper had a real talent for crafting a film. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Eaten Alive (aka Death Trap) and The Funhouse are so well-crafted.

Although I read many books on psychedelics, and watched many documentaries on the subject; this documentary is stuffed with gems about the history of famous persons in the psychedelic Era for the non-initiated in this field. Well done Bro.

@skywind007 I think they might have been shut down when I shot most of this during covid or closed for renovations or some other such reason, IIRC. But yeah there are number of other locations from the film that i never got around to, such as the Hiram Clarke Power Plant and some stuff in Baytown, among other locations.

On the Salem's Lot blueray commentary track by Hooper he mentions that he and William at one time we're going to do Salem's Lot togeather, with himself directing and William producing. Wow! What a darn picture that would have been!! But, Salem's Lot directed by Tobe Hooper has become a television horror classic in its own right. 🙂👌👌🙏🙏

For William Friedkin to Love your film, is a great achievement.
@jackprescott96522 ай бұрын
Mr Friedkin is wrong. Ed Gein murdered one woman and he was the main suspect of the murder of his brother, but that never was proven. All the human skin that Gein stored in his house to make masks, lamps, etc came from grave robbery. Gein was a travesti and probably an homosexual.

It’s ironic that Friedkin called TCM the scariest movie ever made when Tobe Hooper always said it was a dark comedy. People also perceive The Exorcist as the greatest horror movie when William Friedkin says it’s not a horror movie, but to him it’s a family drama. 😂 Both made the two best horror movies in the genre, period.
@texanology2 ай бұрын
For me, Friedkin's The Exorcist is the most Catholic movie ever made. It's a movie that deals with the most powerful thematic aspects in storytelling, the battle between good and evil, between God and the devil/satan. While it may seem bleak and dark in terms of the film’s tone or atmosphere, it's actually optimistic. I love the slower pacing and mood, as well as the photographic style.

I was at this screening! This took place ten years ago in the summer of 2014 at the vista theater before they screened the 4K restoration!!! Sat in the same row as Friedkin and Hooper with a good friend of mine. Unforgettable experience. Hard to believe we’re now in the 50th anniversary. Rest in Peace to two titans!

I think that trade name in 83 was "SASSYFRAS" a deliberate misspelling. Seen a picture of the bottle, lol. Also in TS2 Strike claims his favorite drug is MDA not MDMA. Goes on a little bit of a rant about it almost, defending it compared to the more popular variation.
