Thanks for creating and sharing this great video. I spent over 20 years exploring the Carbon river valley 1993-2013. We cleared the railroad grade from Melmont to Manley Moore for a hiking/ moto trail. That took a while.. Of historical interest is the Bailey Willis trail from Wilkeson to Spray Park. The NP railroad ran along this alignment on the north side of the river for quite a ways. The B W Trail crossed near Montezuma and followed Evans Creek up to the ridge top in the present day ORV Park and over the other side. The NP financed the construction of this four foot wide trail to provide access to Mt Rainier. A branch ran south across the Puyallup river all the way to Ashford. Many portions of the trail can still be located. Inside the Park the Grindstone trail is the new name for the old route.

Great info! I believe we ran across remnants of that trail before they closed off the back way up to evans. Thanks for watching and sharing.

Those tunnels look to be quite tall and wide for what appears to be just prospects. Usually don't see something like that unless it's a big crosscut/haulage tunnel or rubber tire vehicles were used in there, but that's not the case. There are rails in it. They must have found something real interesting up above to tunnel in below it and make such large tunnels.
