I went to "Beverly" back in the 70's. All we got see was this one random oil well just doing its thang! I had to look further to see when this tower thing was built. I thought I was going crazy cuz that tower was not there when I was there. Lol. It looks like it was unveiled in 2001? Interesting.

I was born in early 1950’s & grew up in Santa Monica, west side LA. I remember grasshopper rigs mostly in Venice down to Marina del Rey area. Venice property was dirt cheap then, 1950s to 1960s. The canals in the 60s & 70s were cheap hippie flophouses. Can’t touch that RE now unless you’re quite wealthy. How did that happen?

What happened was all those oil wells were so saturated that they didn't give the oil enough time to replentish itself. So, the get rich quick people thought the wells were dried up. The smart one's knew that oil would replentish the wells if they only kept so many going, and kept them spread out in places where the oil was the most plentiful. That's why those oil wells that are left continue to produce oil forever.

Drill baby Drill. Los Angeles is going to have to start again to pay back all the victims of the LA fires because of Newsom and his wine cronies mismanaging their infrastructure. Have to disagree about the oil is gone.
