@MiyagisRant
@MiyagisRant 10 сағат бұрын
1.62 was really an 'interim' update, meaning a bug fix, Insta360 was made aware of a bug in 1080p recording in PureVideo mode that had weird color artifacts and why 1.62 was released about 2 weeks after 1.60. I did however noticed a 'very' marginal tweak in the Leica NAT profile, a lot were complaining it was too 'dark/contrasty' and I think did went up a notch, I could be wrong but if you pixel peep the two samples, you'll notice a slight 'more exposed' footage on the right especially when you see the tree leaves. ;)

If you're doing any low light, then Ace Pro, the GO 3/3s are great cameras but not great in low light or night, that's where the Ace Pro comes in with PureVideo and the larger sensor. As for firmware for Ace Pro, we will likely see one more before Ace Pro 2 launches in late October ;)

For some reason, we as consumers get a bias about products. Creators will purpousely find a flaw about a product. Then favour their own product as though their favoured product has no flaws. Or has less flaws than the choosen product. The ace pro does have a a negligible amount of focus issues up close. But if you know it. You can put yourself at a distances where thats not an issue. Regular cameras have that same issue with minimum focusing distance. But for the price, getting a 35 mm distance wide angle lens from leicia with picture taking, usable profiles, for example, lecia natural and leicia vivid, 4k 60. Slowmotion, time lapse and much more. If you had a camera for vlogging with all these features we would be paying much more for all these camera offers.

@@uncleyap69 oh hell, as I've mention in my video since day one of the ace pro problems, this camera is not without flaws, NO camera is. Here's my argument, as a 1st gen action camera class, it has very little flaws compared to 4 or 12 generation competitors, and let's be honest, in some features it exceeds the competitors. It's funny ppl are so hard on new companies with 1st gen devices as opposed to companies that's had more than enough devices over the years to resolve chronic issues or are we so used to those problems that we simply just ignore and sweep them under the carpet hoping no one would notice anymore, let's discuss about the term 'bias' 😉 NO camera is without flaws, I take a device that gives ME a good overall experience with innovative features, don't care what brand it is and right now it's the Ace Pro, A4 is a strong second. GoPro is a joke and looks like 13 is even a bigger joke from what I've seen with other users on here, creators AND none career content creators.Sad, because I was a big fan of them since the first GoPro camera.

I have one more question to ask. Since you have all these 2 GPS remotes and this power stick, Let's say,, is it possible to connect Preview Remote & GPS action Remote at the same time to Ace Pro? And having two remotes turned on, both can control the Ace Pro? Or if that is not an option, If I can connect this Selfie stick with the wire to Ace Pro, and then also connect PREVIEW remote to Ace pro at the same time? and both selfie stick buttons and Preview Remote functions can control Ace Pro? Please let me know, I just ordered the preview remote but thinking I might order GPS action remote OR this power selfie stick to have simultaneous multiple controller use if only that is doable. There's a lot of lens flare from the lights in the background on the side with the new update (light sabers coming off the street lights) - Thoughts on that?
@MiyagisRant
@MiyagisRant 13 күн бұрын
I don't think any camera can get away from that especially action cameras. DJI and GoPros are the same if not worse. But there is a difference with the two firmwares, if there's going to be any sort of 'glare' I prefer the newer firmware, look very closely at all the street lamps where the main bulb is, on the old firmware it's blown out with very little definition where the new firmware there's more detail and in some cases you can actually see the detail of the bulb.. yes, there's a glare, not much you can do here other then in post. The problem with 'blown' out effects is that there's literally like a big circular 'cloud' around the bulb, which will be harder to eliminate in post as for just the 'light sabre' effect you're talking about, for me, I can easily fix that, much much harder to fix a blown out cloud ;)

@@MiyagisRant - how do you fix the light saber? I bought the Ace last year specifically for night video and I'm very happy with it. I know it'll get better and better. it's going to be a great day when action cameras are really good in night settings.
@MiyagisRant
@MiyagisRant 13 күн бұрын
@@johnnysjumps When I say fix, I mean reduce. It's next to impossible to remove lens flares in video footage due to the amount of frames in a single video. Not like photos where it's very easy to do. To remove any type of glare/reflections etc. you have to use a pretty programs like Premiere or Davinci Resolve, I use Davinci myself and you have to get into using trackers combined with masking, it's a hugely time consuming and complex task. You can try and use color grading by 'reducing' that glare/light saber but you will never get rid of it completely. Unfortunately this is norm for action cameras and in a lot of point and shoot cameras as well shooting in very low light. I much prefer the light saber effect then the huge 'blob' of cloudy whatever from the older firmware, some might prefer that, I can't see why.

Hi, for the price difference personally I don't think it's worth going with the Ace, the larger sensor size in the Ace Pro is worth the difference if you do a lot of low light to night recording as I do. I'm going to assume that you're a novice to action cameras so I'll start there... First, find out exactly where and how you are going to use this camera, most times this alone will trim down your choices. The top 3 cameras meaning DJI, GoPro and Ace Pro are all good cameras with their strengths and weaknesses and prices are pretty much the same among them give or take a few bucks.... Second, assess your own skills when it comes to how well you can work with post videos/photos, meaning do you have any color grading/correction skills, do you have the software to do those things and how patient are you to do post edits. We see tons of videos out there saying this or that camera is crap etc. Don't listen to them and the ones who had one bad experience doesn't make the camera a bad camera. I've sold cameras for over 20 years, MOST problems are user errors and ALL cameras have their problems, there is no such thing as the perfect device, it doesn't exist. You'll hear jargons like '10 bit' from many reviewers and because this camera doesn't have this that it's a terrible camera, that makes me laugh, don't listen to them because the average user has no clue what 10 bit is and even if they do, they wouldn't know how to utilize that feature anyways. Too many reviewers out there try to 'advise' when they shouldn't. It's how THEY use it and what THEY think a camera should be, everyone uses their camera differently like everything else in this world, cars, appliances etc etc. Watch lots of videos, there's literally hundreds of them with all the brands and do some critical thinking on your own. Sometimes the camera with the most advance features isn't what some need, some just need to turn it on, record it and get good results right out of the camera without having to muck around with it. This is where the Ace Pro in my honest opinion comes in. It just does a good job right out of the camera, it's not the best quality in certain areas (but really marginal differences) but as an overall camera in terms of quality, user experience, it's at the top of my list. Hope this helps ;)

This is an odd one, you are losing a little detail in the shadows after the update, but gaining better noise to signal ratio, better preserved highlights, and a tiny bit more detail in the things they both expose visibly. I think I am going to pass on this update because I use purevideo when I am trying to gain as much shadow detail as possible . for example at 19:24 the larger tree in the frame you can see more of it on the old firmware, but the updated one is defiantly lower noise and a tiny bit more detail where you can see the tree. Looks like they sacrificed a little shadow expose (by inceasing the shutter speed a tad is my guess) which also gave them more detail when in motion. I could be wrong on the shutterspeed change.

@MiyagisRant 25 күн бұрын
I think there's still a ton of room for them to tweak PureVideo, at least it's getting there and it will never be perfect just because of lens limitation. I can't imagine the amount of work the processor is doing to achieve what it can now, still the best in low light among the top 3. DJI A4 with it's same size sensor can't even touch it, I have the A4 and the jitters are even worse and more often especially when there's motion, the processor in the A4 just can't keep up, hope they will change that in the A5. Love to see a 1 inch sensor with combined with Ace Pro's 5 nm and quad bayer...maybe we'll see that in Ace Pro 2, anniversary date is coming up ;) Yah, that's the nice thing about firmware you can choose to update or not. This imo wasn't a 'huge' update, there was actually suppose to be more from what I've heard but I think they are holding back to prepare for the two big anticipated launches from GP and DJI. ;)

@MiyagisRant I really don't think they have any more performance to squeeze out of this sensor and lens combo for low light. @@robertconrad6802 I don't know, I talk to their tech guys often. Even with a new gen 2, we will still see quite a bit from this camera. Insta360 has consistently been surprising me with what they push out of their devices, I bet they have a few more tricks up their sleeves ;) Heck, look at DJI A3, we never thought they were going to push 10 bit out of that camera and they did it last minute just before A4 launched. Also, Insta360 is working with some pretty crazy hardware in this camera, there are still some unknowns with what they can do with this 5 nm and the Quad Bayer sensor, which btw, was a sensor Sony will be using in their new mirrorless full frame DSLRs. One of the reasons the Ace Pro is putting some pretty impressive footage especially in low light/night. Of which, neither big companies like GoPro and DJI can come close to, many have tried to compare it and still has not been able to make it as good as the Ace Pro coming out of the camera without post, companies that's had 12 generations and 4 generations of action cameras. Do a search on Bayer Quad technology, it's insane stuff and it's the future. I don't compare phones with these things, phones are great in a close proximity range but once you surpass that limited range, it will start to choke. The lens on phones are tiny and can only do so much, it's gotten better but glass is still glass.

Where can I buy the DIY replacement lens guard in advance?
@MiyagisRant
@MiyagisRant 29 күн бұрын
Here in Canada you can get them at Amazon or Aliexpress, I got mine at AliExpress. It's the aMagisn brand, just be aware that they say it's 'waterproof', they aren't, there's been reported leaks with those replacements when submersed for a period of time. I carry mine around just for backup for impact and splash protection, if you're underwater, still use a dive housing.

You are correct, I mentioned in the sample that it is a bit too dark, one notch up would probably be good.

@@MiyagisRantHow to adjust the setting one notch up in the existed preset option ?
@MiyagisRant
@MiyagisRant 28 күн бұрын
@@tommyli8726 I meant for Insta360 to tweak the Leica NAT, for them to 'lighten' that profile a notch, I've suggested it to their team so we might see it tweak on the next firmware. You can kind of tweak it yourself by playing with the EV settings in the video mode, that will help with the excessive darkness in certain areas ;)

I notice that the field of view with the Leica is different as well. In some scenarios, the Leica profile seems a little dark in the shadows more than the standard.

@@wargor yes me too, Leica NAT needs to go down one notch I think. I've sent them my request about this when I did the video.

Looks a little better, better colors and cleaner image. But the jitters are still there.

Definitely your this comparison video review shows better footage in pure mode. It improved colors and over all footage looks more clear. I think it will add more cinematic look in videos. Its camera season for next few months, i am excited to see how DJI and Go Pro will introduce their cameras.

Yah, going to be an interesting year for launches, GP13 and A5, wonder what Insta360 has up their sleeve, we are coming up to Ace Pro's anniversary and by trend there's always a new model out ;)

There will always be 'problems' when it comes to night shooting with any camera. The amount of processing power it requires in real time to push out of this small camera this kind of quality without any post is incredible. Why DJI and GP still can't touch this, closest is the DJI with the same size sensor but the problem with DJI A4 is even with a big sensor, it doesn't have the processor to back it up hopefully we will see that in the A5, GP can't even come close, even after hours of post it still doesn't compare, I've seen it. There are subtle differences in this sample but I wanted to do a handheld sample. In my first video where it's more stationary on the dash, the differences were night and day, pun intended ;). But yah, I've been searching for a low light camera that gives usable footage for a good couple of years now because I shoot quite a bit in low light and sometimes at night, there's 'nothing' out there, Ace Pro is the closest animal. Ace Pro is setting the standard for a whole new shooting environment, although not perfect but I think there's more room to tweak. Like I always say, action doesn't stop when the sun goes down ;) A good example, look at the sample 4K night videos shot on the Sony Alpha 9, it suffers with the same 'jitters/vibrations' in some areas just like the Ace Pro but that's a $5000 camera and who knows how much the lens on that sample costed lol.

Thanks for doing a low light test. The jitters are still present. The new software seems to control the highlights and shadows better. Overall I see a small but sgnificant improvement. Did your pup get to take a walk?
@MiyagisRant

Yah they are but less frequent on my sample here and the first one in the car. This is a tough sample as it's handheld but I wanted to do it that way, handheld videos are never pretty at night especially without a gimbal. I would love to try this on a action camera gimbal and do the same test, I think it would greatly improve the footage and fix those 'jitters'. Yes, I took Guinness for a walk after, just a short one as it was getting late ;)
