Like my mechanic says, BMW owners love their cars until they have to fix them. If you are buying the 2011i xDrive, ask if the Vanos system recall (look it up) was performed on the car. I bought one of these cars and the initial inspection showed the recall was not performed. When I took it to BMW they did the work no problem and found one of the bolt heads that broke off in the oil pan. I have no idea how the car still ran but was lucky I got this done ASAP. The other recall was the air bag. There must have been 2 types in this model and mine was not subject to the recall. I'm dealing with the oil leaks as they appear (oil filter housing gasket, oil pan drain plug grommet) but love the car despite the issues. My car came with the run flat tires and rims, so I bought a spare rim with a tire and a jack. I take it out of the trunk for most of my driving, but put it back in on long trips. They look great and perform great on the highway, but around town you feel every nook and cranny! Ahh, the price of vanity!

Your car turning on in the garage could've been a MITM attack, someone with a signal stealing device got the signal from your keys and turned your vehicle on, good thing it was in the garage. That's my take on the likely culprit

Not all Hertz Polestar rentals are dual motor. You know when you look at the maximum range when you first open the car. Divide the miles remaining by the percentage of battery remaining as a decimal. If it says 240-250 at full charge, then it is likely a dual motor. If it says 260-280 it is a single motor which is a very un-spirited drive. Many of the 2022 and later do not have pilot assist either which is one of the big benefits of Polestar. Never in my experience has Hertz charged me for battery level on return. Hertz does a terrible job of training people on how to use these cars. These are some of the best cars for the money and off-lease used ones are under $25k and trigger a $4k tax credit for most people. If you have the ability to charge at home, this car is a top choice. if not, stick with gas.

Blah Blah Blah. the same thing that has been said over and over for the last 6 month and on top of that they have done the manufactures "3 strikes and you're out" with saying now three times the car would be out for the public. As I actually had a phone call with GM today asking when, pricing and if the car is going to be a 25 or a 26. The answer to all of this was "I don't know". When I then call the car nothing more than a prototype I defiantly stepped on a nerve as they were fast to say it is not. As I explained 'You have built 1 car that has done 233 in another country, but you have no allocations to go out to any dealers, you have no idea the cost, you have no idea what the year will be and for that matter you cannot tell me the MPG (Not that it matters) that is what they call in the car world a prototype. Yes, GM screwed up during covid telling their supplier of carbon fiber "No" when it was time to reorder so they are limited on that as the supplier sold yearly contracts to everyone else. whoops! Then there is the shady deal GM cut with China on the lifters. The lifters were supposed to be made of titanium and not recycled titanium, so the lifters began to derogate. Well, that is what you get when you wanna build something with a country that wants to bomb us off the face of the planet. So good luck to you all thinking the car is just around the corner, because it certainly is not.

What minimum temperatures did you drive your Michelin 4S's in before parking for the winter? I live in Northern Virginia and recently had all four tires lose traction (on my spec ordered six month-old 2024 Z51 with 4S's and magride) under moderate cornering on curve on a clean smooth four-lane road on a 40 degree F dry November day when the tire temp read "cool" on the dash. Fortunately the electronic nanny caught it and kept it from sliding sideways into the SUV that was going about the same speed in the right lane next to me -- that was extraordinarily sobering if not downright embarassing to say the least. I now have a now have a stack of replacement all-season Michelins and second set of wheels waiting to be mounted. I don't have many miles on the C8 yet but so far it appears to be all I hoped for I only wish it had a bit more headroom at 6'2" despite what I read elsewhere I can only barely fit in the convertible, headroom in the coupe was no go due to the reinforced targa bar. I'm a sucker for high performance options but if I had it to do over again I probably would have ordered the all-seasons and maybe even not the Z51. BTW I decided to go for a fully loaded Z51 with its low-end grunt rather than a base Z06 (both spec'd out at about the same price) as the C8 is intended as a daily driver, I have several other high performance cars (an E63 and a 911) with rpm-related potential that is frustratingly but practically limited by the traffic common in this area.

The Polestar is a superb car if you like a great driving experience. The technological features inside the cabin are adequate but nothing special. Polestar was previously the racing division of Volvo and has since been sold to another carmaker. The car handles exceptionally well and if you have the performance model it goes 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. The base model will do 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds. The Polestar is more sports car than sedan.

You have had better luck than myself. After one year, my 2023 spent several weeks at the dealership getting a new replacement transmission, then less than 2000 miles later more service regarding ECM and mystery electrical issues. Entire dash display would go blank, engine would shut down or stammer. After a month of attorney/GM letter writing, GM bought it back. When the dealer did the first trans service, they missed ( or so they say ) the metal fragments in the filter and pan. During the trans install, the mechanic crushed, damaged one of the harnesses which led to part of the electrical issues. I truly regret selling my ‘19 C7 Z06. Sold it to buy the ‘23. 52000 miles and not one glitch.

@Leo-fk9ch I owned a C5 for 13 years. During that time, it has numerous issues: Diff leak (2×) Door lock module failure Horn inoperative Smog pump check valve failures (3x) Transmission seal leak Column lock failure Passenger windows motor HUD fading away Climate display went blank. All of these happened before 50,000 miles. Needless to say, I will never buy a GM product again. Good luck with yours.
