I really hope your channel blows up soon. Your top 10s are so diverse with great insights. Have you considered interviewing with other film channels? Rob Ager does this quite a bit and connects with smaller channels. My favourites for 2024 were Inside Out 2 and Smile 2.

I am OK just doing videos when I can. It's a nice hobby. I really liked Inside Out 2! The depiction of a panic attack was done perfectly.

I would really recommend "The new year that never came", it's a Romanian film that follows the lives of ordinary people in the last days of the communist regime. It's one of the best Romanian films released in the last 10 years but unfortunately it's not well known internationally

My number one would have to be ‘Anora” too. Sean Baker is the perfect director to represent America right now. I also loved “Didi” “A Different Man” “Juror #2” and “The Substance”. “The Brutalist” did nothing for me. I’m kind of amazed people are going so gaga over it. I found it to be a lot like brutalist architecture; it’s too big to avoid and you’re forced to look at this giant grey thing that has no heart. What did you make of the AI controversy?
@1-2manyКүн бұрын
It's a tricky one. Film is all about faking things but AI is such a slippery slope. As a somewhat ignorant person to what good Hungarian sounds like, I think I would've preferred it before the AI.

I've started catching up on a lot of things that came out post 2010 cause my cinema snob brain decided that there was no great cinema after the early 2000's 'new extremity movement' which was so powerful to me at the time that nothing else quite matched it. Good to be back in the game, love this channel. Subbed.

Three Colors: Red Satantango While I like me a good Woody Allen movie, Bullets Over Broadway I couldn't even bother finishing. I think my favorite Allen movie of the 90's was Shadows and Fog.
