Excellent informative video, and love all the happy colors, very pleasant. I first bought a Bugera Power Soak, it turned my tone to mud. I'm picking up a used TK 100 today for $550. I haven't really heard anyone demo one while heavy on the gain, but I'll soon find out. Fingers crossed, you seemed pretty thrilled about, I'll take your word. 👍

Have the GT-11. Nice guitar. Wish the pickups were flat poles to better balance the 11” radius. Side fret dots are difficult to see in low stage lighting. Wish the pots had a bit more resistance. My only gripes.

Thanks for the vid. I just set up a brand new Ciocks DC7 and was very careful to make sure everything was right. Power to the pedals but no sound. Bass to amp works with both input and output cables, all the patch cables work, and even my old OneSpot adapter works (which is what i was replacing in the first place because it's a flimsy, unreliable thing). Pretty frustrating but I'm going to reach out to Ciocks and see whats up...

Maybe I’m still in the honeymoon phase, but I am treating it like learning a new OS. To get it, I traded in a set of Wampler multi-effects (terraform and metaverse) units that are also excellent with no menus or screens, very vintage focused...at this point I’m all in so it’s like an ROI thing. I’d check those Wamplers out if you haven’t yet man, sounds like exactly what you’re after

I would like to see the sweeping mids that the old Lab Series amps had. That would really improve this.

You could do the same thing with an EQ pedal. Though nicer on the amp.

What Jazzmasters have the thickest and widest necks? Most Jazzmasters have thin and narrow necks especially at the 1st fret (.82 inches). I have a Squire J Mascis JM but don't wan't to dump hundreds of dollars into upgrades (even thought the neck feels good/ thick enough). I have big hands. Your playing is awesome. I usually don't like watching people play but you have a cool mix of surf and indie rock!

Great video. My local shop allowed me to do layaway. 100 dollars every two weeks on a 2011 Fender American Deluxe Tele. I actually paid it off early because it really motivated me to work and earn it knowing it was waiting for me. Just stopped in yesterday and walked out with a Fender Champion for 300 dollars. Randy. Is the neck smaller than a Mexican Classic player? I love my Jazzmaster but sometimes it’s feels like I’m struggling with the neck.

I got one of these used . Love it , lowered action, fast action. It’s missing whammy bar. Tired one from my fender Strat , was too small . Anyone have an idea the size of tremolo bar ? Please let me know, for some good “guitarma “ ( aka guitar karma )

I have no idea, it's a standard import spec bridge that gets used on the majority of indonesian guitars regardless of brand though so it shouldn't be impossible to replace

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Is this a wonderful guitar? It is absolutely a wonderful guitar. Is this a wonderful guitar? It is absolute trash. Some people love broccoli. Some people hate broccoli. Put this exact stock guitar in Joe Walsh's hands. Now you know. Put this exact stock guitar in Jimmy Paige's hands. Now you know.

I agree with everything you said: 1) I remember seeing actual Fender's (albeit MIM) being $400-$600. These were known to be perfect modding platforms while retaining the Fender name. Sad that Fender keeps upping price but not quality. I would never own or buy a Fender these days. I'd go PRS SE any day over a Fender MIM or anything like that. 2) I love Eastman guitars, even though I don't own one. One of my local stores is an Eastman dealer. They have some nice Gibson and Martin style copies. Well worth it if you can afford one.

I bought an Eastman Les Paul used and it was one of the best most MOJO filled instrument I have ever played. Traded it in with some stuff to get a custom shop Fender and I regret getting rid of that one to this day. Played better than the custom shop although both were great guitars.

Great comparison video. I have an early 339 and they went berserk on the lacquer. I feel sure it's getting better day by day but have no idea why. The 335's I tried were all too muddy for my taste. The 339 cuts it beautifully.

I like PRS guitars but people need to invest in a good amp before spending 3-5k on guitar. You can put a 300 dollar guitar through a friedman bogner boogie and sound amazing or spend 3/5k on a guitar through a cheap modeler or cheap amp and still sound like ass. It’s the most basic of noob mistakes. You’ll see a guy with anderson suhr and prs but his amps are dogshit. 😂

Haha! Us folk in the UK, often refer to the tremelo arm, as a "whammy bar" at least in my experience. I think its a playful and affectionate term which gets you where you need to be...🤪

Found one of these locally for 400, it was not played and only kept for collection. Don’t dig the sound too much but it seems like a great deal. Might have to pick it up even if I don’t like it and decide to resell.

I bought a sunburst MIJ Heritage Jazzmaster from the Fender store in Tokyo October, 2024, and I love it. I think the build, QC, sound, and playability is fantastic and incredible value. The only thing I don't like is how the treble falls off when I lower the volume so I have to fidle with my amp volume together with the guitar volume. Even though I love the vintage sound of the P90s I still might change one or both pickups later for something with a bit more heft and detail.

Get rid of the PuPs, put in Wilinksen 63's. Get some good tone knobs and selector switch, solder in an Orange Drop capacitor. Get rid of the barrel bridge and get a Wilkensen Telebridge. All in all, about 100 dollars of upgrades - if that. You're welcome. Wouldn't buy it for the weight. Too heavy for a gigging musician. Would buy it to play in the bedroom or studio.

@BlindingSun_ you can make any budget guitar sound great and that’s a wonderful thing, but to say they all feel the same there’s no way you could say that with a straight face and that’s ok ( you didn’t say that, pointing out why it is absolutely not on par for me with pretty much any other jaguars I’ve ever played from vintage to modern MIJ/US models outside of some of the player jags that were just woeful guitars.

This seems like a potentially *very* Smart business move by Fender Epiphone are attempting to go high end- which marketers state is a difficult thing for a budget brand to rebrand into a higher-end brand Perhaps Fender realizes the average person’s wages haven’t increased to keep pace with the greedflation and there just isn’t the market for more expensive guitars This move gets people into the Fender brand at a ‘cheap’ price It sounds like Fender is willing to bet that the sales from ppl wanting a Fender will be more than the ppl who perceive the Standard as low value for the money

A lot of people seems to be surprised to see a made in Indonesia Fender linup, but remember about 12 years ago there were Made in China Fenders - I had a Modern Player Telecaster bass which was OK from this series. I don't know if they made guitars at this time. Edit : I find on Reverb that it's sold between 900 and 1300 USD nowadays. I sold it 300 USD :-/
