It doesn't matter to my old weathered mitts and maybe it doesn't matter to you but some people would complain that you need shorter grub screws holding up your saddles so they are not raking into their palms. I bought some cheap Musiclily saddles from Amazon for a budget guitar and I appreciated that this competitive parts company included multiple screws at different lengths to address this issue.

I agree completely. I have two AV ‘64 Jazz Basses, the AV ‘63 P Bass, a ‘65 Jazzmaster and a ‘65 Jaguar from this production line. They are superior in every way compared to any other Fender I’ve played. The thin nitro finish, fretwork, period accuracy and case candy are all phenomenal. Sadly, I have a hard time imagining Fender ever going back to this build quality so I appreciate this era a lot! Unbelievable guitars.

Excellent video. I’ve had my Amulet for about a year now and I love it, I’ve even toured with it (and run it at 1W on stage! Mic’d of course) and it has not had any issues. That said, the heat has always made me nervous. I actually asked Dave Koltai about it- he said the amp runs hot by nature, but the heat is most intense at 1W and when the amp is on for a while but not being played. Personally, the heat still makes me uncomfortable, so thanks to your video I routed a cooling vent myself and installed a tooth washer while I was at it. I really like this amp. It’s small, light, and personally I think quite versatile for my needs though others may disagree. I really appreciate the advice on how to get it to a place where it can last as long as it should.

Very nice video. Overall quality of your work has improved a lot from when you first started, and your early videos were already pretty good. I have watched some other YT streamers who I think are pretty honest and they really liked the HB modern Plus, or said it was a fine instrument, but neck profile/trem were not for them. I also watch a couple who agreed with you, which leads me to believe they are really inconsistent, and you might get a great instrument, or a real dog (no disrespect to my canine friends) -which was my experience with my HB T-62. First one was not even good enough to be called a B-stock, second has not a single flaw. I am still interested in the modern plus and would love to mess around with one, but will wait until the next version. As robotics improve, we are going to see more and more features from top of the line guitars move down to the budget level. Rounded edges, perfectly finished frets, Plect guitar setups for entire line, AI/computer assisted final setup and QC. Top of the line guitars will be the same as today, best wood, play-ability, hand made, but the differences will be even less dramatic then today. The next few years are going to be amazing for guitarists as even more high end features creep up into budget and mid priced guitars. Congrats on another year of great content. Have a great New Year and see you in 2025.

What about you PRS Core in blue you had in an anti-UV cabinet? Is that worse than the Suhr? In what sense? PRS is supposed to make the best instruments (you may like them or not, you may like the sound or not, but I am refering to the finishes, the neck, it is "perfect").

The Class 5 is a nice amp, if you know, how to adjust it correctly. It is no "everything at ten" amp. First you have to avoid to much power amp sagging, so Volume a 10 not necessarily is the right choice (opposite to a1959 or 1987), second, bass can sound too intense and cause (too much) bass fuzz at higher Volume settings, so lower settings can sound better. If you know, what and where to do, also some modding can help, no matter, if you want a (slightly) different sound shaping, taming or beefing up the sound a little. It could have even been better sounding and more flexible with additional Master and a negative feedback loop, as every other Marshall (Plexi) also offers it, but ok. Not bad in my opinion nevertheless. Good, but maybe also not awesome, but you can make it sounding awesome with some decent modding most probably. But certainly an amp, which you either like or do not at all.

Good review of what - to me - sounds like a bad design and a bad build. I'm pretty sure this brand was resurrected solely to sell into history that Page used SOME variety of Supro on LZI. NOTHING you played on 4+ guitars at any volume sounded remotely like LZI which is fine. But nothing sounded good in its own right either. Everything sounded muffled. The variations in sound over hours / days suggest the tubes are biased WAY too high and are damaging the caps and resistors with heat which will put the circuit further out of balance and eventually destroy the amp, probably even before the warranty expires.
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic 15 сағат бұрын
You're actually dead on and you noticed something I deliberately did not do in the demo - the Jimmy Page thing. As per your points about heat, I've seen examples of supros frying the board from overheating and would also say you predicted that nicely. It's a shame.

It sounded great! . Nice playing as always. I just have to ask about something you said, “it all has to do with the spacing of the frets” - frets 0-22 are the the exact same spacing on any 25” scale guitar! I don’t understand how that contributes to a different feel? I may be confusing “feel” as a physical thing vs a visual “when I look down at the fretboard” to orient myself thing though. My reservation with 24s, and I currently just own one custom 24, is that the neck pickup gets bumped to a position that always feels a bit wrong to me. I love that LP-style, coil-at-the-second-octave positioning’s sound so much that I miss it in the 24 fretters.
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic Күн бұрын
Really with the spacing I should have been more clear, it has more to do with the spacing of the neck pickup in relation of the end of the fingerboard than the 24 fret models. I really do like the CE and Custom 24 models but the neck pickup always sounded a bit off to me because of that.

Fading, Clouding are unacceptable issues for a 4+ guitar that you mainly buy due to its aesthetics. I cannot understand how they are still not resolving this issue. The best option is not buying one with blue or green components. Charcoal, Red or Tiger colors but still...big issues in my opinion to avoid buying one.

It sucks even more because my favorite colors are blue, purple, and green but yeah I find it crazy that for the dye finishes you can lose all of your color relatively fast on such an expensive guitar.

Great guitar Jim. My number one is a 90’ ce24 that I’ve owned since new. I love the ce’s. Do you think you will put it back to having the split coil push/pull tone pot? I have a cu22 that someone removed the 5 way rotory switch and replaced it with a 3-way. I know that’s a popular thing to do but it bothers me, I’m considering just adding a push/pull tone knob.
@shanetx81
@shanetx81 Күн бұрын
I’d definitely consider adding a push/pull to both remaining knobs, one for neck and one for bridge. I am really addicted to the hb-single and single-hb positions that allows (essentially 24-08 switching).

I'm not sure if I'll install a push pull for this, I kinda like it as is and regardless of the pickups in it I never really love split coil sounds
@shanetx81
@shanetx81 Күн бұрын
@ do you still have the McCarty’s you demo’d last month? I don’t really care much for splits sounds either, but I find a lot of useful sounds in the middle position with one pickup split, especially in the McCarty 594 with extra tweaking potential from the volume knob. On my custom 24, I really only use it to add a little trebly bite from a split bridge to the neck pickup’s sound. It’s just another eq’ing tool to use without going over to your amp or bending down and fumbling with your pedals in the dark. I don’t really miss the option on my less featured guitars, though. It’s funny, I advocate for the full 8 position/combination features… and yet I’m leaning toward trading away my 594 for the least featureful guitar I know of in an SG jr.

I do find it annoying how fender and squier treat their guitars, unless your favorite guitar model is a strat or a tele good luck finding one they just discontinued the normal starcasters again and the only way to get one again is to get one used that's being sold for way more than the instrument is actually worth seriously some listings are like $600 for a $250 guitar brand new
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic Күн бұрын
to be fair they basically treat the jazzmaster on the same level as the strat and tele at this point. sucks about the starcaster and it's not surprising at all to see people now gouging the market for the ones they have. Even more sad for the starcaster is they haven't made an american one in 50+ years and I don't think have even had a Japanese made version at any point...

SE is best option for afordable guitar. S2 you pay for a Core guitar (electronics and QC) with affordable finishes (plain shapes, satin or veneer top wood). PRS Cores is an S2 made for luxury in aesthetics, more rounded body, which needs wider woods for the tops (and that is very expensive), colors and 5A wood grains, maybe abalone or mother of pearl inlays, maybe flamed maple neck, etc.
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic Күн бұрын
It's all subjective really - to me unless you are buying the SE used and only considering a S2 new I actually disagree. The nice thing about the S2 line is that they basically have their value cut in half more or less from new pricing and it's easy to find one used in great shape for a grand. The difference in quality and feel is night and day between the two of them so I'd pick the S2 every time.
