thank you, good run. like others i was also a bit fed up with the roads. but the long stretch through this weird forest with the big trees and big bare branches and the other with the lots of green plants was amazing.

This video saved my soul. I really missed looking at this sight and hearing the crunch of the stones under the wheels. I hope there will be a recording of Megavalance and Mountain of Hell as well. Successful and accident-free cycling.

I didn’t like the track 2019, too many roads. Did you cut the video? Because I also watched Damien Oton’s and there were more roads and he was fed up with “15 km of them”. And with the fact that they were open (he met many cars).

He took a new line that nobody saw before. @ Mountain of Hell, you can ride your own track. Only have to pass the gates.

I watched many races of this type on YT (Mega France, Hell, Cervinia). I had to wait for this one on La Réunion to see dogs, people, vehicles threatening the safety of the riders. 🤯 I wouldn’t have the courage: I would expect a sudden obstacle at every turn.

how do they even know where to go next? there's no guides or even arrow smh, I know they do like a prep run but still, remembering the exact route while battling it out with others and riding your heart out will for sure mess w/ my head and make a mistake sooner or later.

We can practice the track, but yes. We have to keep focus to stay on the trails. At the big crossings, there will be people.

Vanuit Nederland ook een diepe buiging. Schitterend gereden weer en wat een strijd. Vidal was wel beter op het laatste stuk maar nam net teveel risico vermoed ik. Die actie van hem op 35 minuten door dat veld was wel heel erg mooi! Ik moet eerlijk zijn dat toen ik zag dat hij steeds verder van je weg reed een mechanisch probleem vermoedde. Maar toch gevallen en je moet wel bljven staan. Je kon ook daarvoor al zien dat hij begin te pushen en pushen berg op, volgens mij zat je op je tandvlees. Maar goed doorgestreden!! Dit lijkt me ook echt wel iets voor Mathieu van der Poel en Tom Pidcock. Zeker Mathieu vind dit echt wel geweldig. Als Absalon het kon...

Thx! Klopt. Fysiek was het een echte battle. Ik reed met zwaardere en zachtere banden tov Vidal. Dus op de trapstukken kon ik maar net aanpikken. Op de gladde trails kon ik dan weer vlot volgen. De laatste stukken liggen er ontzettend ruw bij voor je materiaal. Iets te snel en je hebt zowiso stukken.

As the first time watching you do the Megavalanche I now know it’s a race of luck. I have watched many and you hesitated many times didn’t take the risks and didn’t seem to me to be racing at full capacity. True your a champion in your sport from what I have googled but it lacked the wow factor that the other 3 riders I have watched do this race. ( not the same one mind you). If I put all 4 of you in a race then that would be epic. Let go… be a little wild and stop thinking of the prize. I know you are probably the better rider but you need to just let go and enjoy the sport 🍻👍

Yes, you need some luck and skills during the start of the race. But after the start, you race your own pace. You have to keep up for 45 minutes. So you have to choose the moments to go full speed and the moment to recover a little bit.
