Great content, im glad to see you're both wearing Hard Helmets, but you guys really should take a Canary with you, there are all kind if deadly noxious gas down there!
@BenoCam2 күн бұрын
Cornish metal mines tend to be relatively good for bad gasses (compared to say coal mines) and these ones in particular on the coast tend to have pretty good ventilation. Saying that we do occasionally find patches of bad air or low oxygen but you can generally sense them before it’s a problem. Not that I would recommend this approach. A gas monitor is a very sensible piece of kit to have along which we have taken on many trips in the past.

Love it I watched the "Drop Shorts" blow one of those up out in Suffield on BATUS, someone's career ended right there on the spot! 😆 🤣 😂 You probably know but it is an Abbot SPG not a Tank, subtle difference I know, but there it is! 🤷🏽♂️ Great job though love military machines getting saved following their loyal service and much beasting by the likes of me! 😆 👍🏽 🙏🏼 Celer et Audax ⚔️ 🔥

Ha yeah I bet that was fun. Yes the ex forces people are very quick to correct the tank/not a tank situation. But actually if you look up tank in the dictionary it is covered- but telling them that just upsets them even more. Hoping for a chieftain one day… now that’s a proper tank !
@johnellisonarmadilloconstr79667 күн бұрын
Where did they come from if that’s the only way in?
@BenoCam2 күн бұрын
They came from the hole in the roof. They have just been pushed in that much until the place was full and they could fit no more but over time the pile has settled and now there’s a gap/hole formed in the way in above.

Hi guys. I worked botalick in 1984 and the head frame was erected in sight of the old ark royal aircraft carrier on her way to scrap yard. The project stopped when after putting the faraday gantry in the shaft we found the collar was so under cut or bottle necked that it was impossible to pour a new shaft collar the company i worked for was called thyssen mining. Great seeing you. Barry

How do you get permission to dive and recover items from the ships. I want to get into diving and ive always loved history. Just think itd be interesting to ask
@BenoCam2 күн бұрын
You don’t have to get permission to dive or recover unless it’s a protected wreck. But if you do recover anything from any wreck you have to report it to the Uk maritime and coastguard agency Reciever of Wreck within 30 days. If it’s a projected wreck you may be on a license where it’s just look but don’t touch as many of them are. The entire system is a bit crazy but there you go.

@BenoCam16 күн бұрын
I have a video online of the mk1 restoration project where it had just as many holes and I welded all of those up and made it swim again. I just really needed this asap to do a few engine lifts so I needed to get it diesel engined and reliable as soon as I could so that I could do those lifts. And it’s been great so far!

I have worked underground for many years in Western Australia, I love it when we break into old workings, the timbers, the pigsty's, the old ladderways, such skill. The thing I'm really proud of is that my birth certificate says Fairview Terrace Tresavean Lan er Cornwall, and I'm still down a bloody hole on the other side of the world. Keep the videos coming guys, but stay safe. Timberman Dan.

@BenoCam2 күн бұрын
Ideal well it’s still in use every now and then so cheers for that 👍 shame the rest of the mine is in accessible but the ground is pretty bad in some of those areas.
@adriankatsikides3390Ай бұрын
yes I went in there too up to the water fall which soaked me, I was trying to look back up the shaft to the grid, couldn't get to it. Then told by Truro archaeologist that the way to it was a hole in the wall - which I never noticed. I was on my own and it gets scary. I do remember the black scorch marks on certain places which I assume from workers' tallow candles. Some of my photos appeared in exploring cornish mines by Bob Acton but they were Botallack way

I want to know how is it driving on water without sinking? What i can imagine is the way BTR80A works by having transmission from inside to straight outside of a tank and drives without sinking. And i was thinking, is this a 1960s oil in the transmission wall.?...
@BenoCamАй бұрын
Because the whole hull is waterproof. The drive shafts exit through the hull through oil filled bevel boxes so there’s no leaks . There’s just a few hull bungs to put in to make it ready although it is a strange feeling when you first go in !

I had never driven one before so once we first got it running I just worked it out. To drive it on the road I had to go and do my H license which there’s only one place in the uk you can do it now the appropriately named “tanks a lot” worth a look on his wed site all kind of goodies on there for sale

Is that water at 4:16 seawater?
@BenoCamАй бұрын
No I wouldn’t have thought so. Too far inland for that. It’s just groundwater (fresh)
@karhukiviАй бұрын
@@BenoCam Saline intrusions can go a surprising distance inland. I wouldn't recommend tasting it but might be worth testing a sample of it if you ever go back there. An electrician's resistance tester will easily show the difference between fresh and salty water. If you do any more it would be interesting to know the dip and azimuth of the veins, a compass - clinometer will suffice. Great videos, and with informed commentaries too - thanks!

@BenoCamАй бұрын
The floor is all ready to go back in I just need to wire up some bilge alarms so I can monitor what’s going on inside, it’s quite nice being able to poke your head in the back and have a look as it is. Yes I have a splash board but it’s an original and only thin wood. I would have trashed it that day but hopefully will still get it fitted one day.
@philipspencer1834Ай бұрын
Excellent! Are you going to put decks back in the load beds of the Stalwarts?
@darrelwoolley7291Ай бұрын
Annnnd it's because of To#@ers like this the place has since been trashed with graffiti everywhere and some of the cars( cortina estate) have been pushed into the water. Private land and treating it like a playground, absolutely no respect just want clicks ....
