I was part of the team that dug some of that adit out, I certainly remember that tight squeeze in and out, I didn't enjoy any of it, they were something else in those days.
@adriankatsikides33906 күн бұрын
yes I went in there too up to the water fall which soaked me, I was trying to look back up the shaft to the grid, couldn't get to it. Then told by Truro archaeologist that the way to it was a hole in the wall - which I never noticed. I was on my own and it gets scary. I do remember the black scorch marks on certain places which I assume from workers' tallow candles. Some of my photos appeared in exploring cornish mines by Bob Acton but they were Botallack way

I want to know how is it driving on water without sinking? What i can imagine is the way BTR80A works by having transmission from inside to straight outside of a tank and drives without sinking. And i was thinking, is this a 1960s oil in the transmission wall.?...
@BenoCam6 күн бұрын
Because the whole hull is waterproof. The drive shafts exit through the hull through oil filled bevel boxes so there’s no leaks . There’s just a few hull bungs to put in to make it ready although it is a strange feeling when you first go in !

Is that water at 4:16 seawater?
@BenoCam18 күн бұрын
No I wouldn’t have thought so. Too far inland for that. It’s just groundwater (fresh)
@karhukivi18 күн бұрын
@@BenoCam Saline intrusions can go a surprising distance inland. I wouldn't recommend tasting it but might be worth testing a sample of it if you ever go back there. An electrician's resistance tester will easily show the difference between fresh and salty water. If you do any more it would be interesting to know the dip and azimuth of the veins, a compass - clinometer will suffice. Great videos, and with informed commentaries too - thanks!

Great work gang…. 🤣 Stalwarts don’t like too much pond weed…… 👍 Time to get the load bed covers back in. 😎 @Ben… didn’t the Stollys have a deflector plate under the windscreen for swimming?
@BenoCam25 күн бұрын
The floor is all ready to go back in I just need to wire up some bilge alarms so I can monitor what’s going on inside, it’s quite nice being able to poke your head in the back and have a look as it is. Yes I have a splash board but it’s an original and only thin wood. I would have trashed it that day but hopefully will still get it fitted one day.
@philipspencer183427 күн бұрын
Excellent! Are you going to put decks back in the load beds of the Stalwarts?
@darrelwoolley729128 күн бұрын
Annnnd it's because of To#@ers like this the place has since been trashed with graffiti everywhere and some of the cars( cortina estate) have been pushed into the water. Private land and treating it like a playground, absolutely no respect just want clicks ....

@7.37 is a Daytona Yellow Ford Cortina Mk3 Series Two (1973-76) "XL" 4 door Saloon, with a Sapphire Blue Metallic Ford Cortina Mk3 Series One (1970-73) "GT" upside down on top of it, both vehicles officially identified by the club Founder of Ford Cortina Mk.3. Owners Register (Est in September 1990) I always knew there were several Mk3's in this Cave, so it is nice to see two of them in this video, confirming it,

I’ve always worked for companies that really take health and safety seriously. They have always protected me against some of the most mild and also some pretty shocking and unique hazards that exist in the UK and abroad but seeing the Cornish mines, I’m always amazed by how dire the conditions and hazards that people took on when below ground. Even more so, that they worked in these conditions for years. Well done to them.

Very nice. What are the calipers used on the steering system?
@BenoCamАй бұрын
There are two sets of calipers , one set on the steering box for the steering the others are on the hubs themselves for the main braking . I believe the steering ones are jaguar car, whereas the braking ones are cvrt specific. It seems to problem to be able to get hold of calipers or pads for either so far 🙂

I quite fancy making a few outriggers wouldn’t take much but can’t afford to go out much else it won’t lift as much. Been told acro props under the sides in between the wheels work well as it stops the suspension dipping !
